My FSIL used C Scott Photography for her summer wedding in Cleveland, Tennessee. Chris and his fiancee Adrian are from Nashville, but they are willing to travel. Check out their website. Their work is truly amazing!

I'm not sure about local videographers or caterers, but I wish you luck!

I recommend All Occasions Catering out of Knoxville. They aren't necessarily the cheapest, but they are really friendly and their food is good. We ended up going with a bakery rather than a full-service catering company due to the nature of our reception (all desserts! yum!). However, we would have 100% gone with All Occasions if we needed full-service.

As for a photographer, we're using Mark Boxley. We love his style and he's very affordable. However, he's recently received a fellowship and his permanent residence will be in Ohio, so I don't know that he's taking any new clients in the Knoxville area. He'll be driving in the night before our wedding for us.

Good luck!

I got married on 06/07/08 in Franklin, TN and thought the following vendor reviews would help some of you out. I had the most wonderful day, and I hope you all do too!

A Bride Idea (http://www.abrideidea.net) - Basically, the wedding happened because of Lindsey. She totally understood what I was going for and what I wanted and gave me suggestions based on that. It was not her trying to do her wedding over again; it was her making my wedding and my vision the best it could be. She was very responsive via e-mail since I did most of the planning from out-of-town. On the day-of, she was always there, giving us the heads-up about what was coming next, and making sure everything ran smoothly. I needed a coordinator who would be there when I needed her and who would step back when I didn't (our ceremony was run predominantly by the church), and Lindsey was so gracious about doing exactly that.

Joyful Creations Catering (http://www.joyfulcreationscatering.net) - We decided on a BBQ theme for the food, and Jan and MaryAnn at Joyful Creations created some mouthwatering brisket. Their baked beans were similarly amazing. We met with them for a tasting in October and felt right at home. It was the most affordable option of the people we had looked at, and the set-up on the day-of was beautiful. Unfortunately, I didn't get to enjoy the food that much (though I did get to eat some). They created a to-go basket for us, and it was waiting in our refrigerator when we came back from the honeymoon.

Dulce Desserts (http://www.dulcedesserts.com) - DH and I love LOVE LOVE Juanita. The first time I tried her cake, I knew we would be hiring her, but I let my parents and DH try before making a final decision. First off, the cake is out of this world. Second, she totally "got" our vision as well, and the cake came out fabulously. Two layers of the cake were alternating almond and chocolate cake separated with a chocolate ganache and amaretto buttercream, and one layer of the cake was european butter cake with buttercream that had chopped fresh strawberries in it. We got more compliments on the cake, and I loved working with Juanita. Fortunately, Dulce Desserts isn't that far from our house, so I know we'll be stopping in for cupcakes and such.

Luther Lewis (http://lutherlewis.net) - Confession: I totally hired Luther Lewis after finding him on MySpace. I wanted a country band. Not a wedding band that could do country songs. I wanted the kind of people you hear when you go to the honky-tonks on Broadway. After communicating with Luther via e-mail, we decided to hire him. After hiring him, during one of our trips to Nashville, my parents, DH, and I went to go hear him play at Jack Daniel's Saloon in Opryland. We were blown away. He was so good, and he didn't disappoint for the wedding. That night at Opryland, he even sat down and chatted with us and got to know us on his break. At the wedding, one guest even bought his CD! He was great at engaging the crowd and played some of our favorites. Having a live band was a priority for us, so we spent quite a bit of money in this area, but it contributed so much to the evening. There was one minor slip-up where we had switched our first-dance song, and he played the one we picked out first, but it was no big deal. He ended up playing the second choice right after it, so we had two first dances!

Factory at Franklin - We booked Jamison Hall at The Factory. I was so glad it was indoors, and it provided plenty of space for what we wanted to do (namely, a stage and a big dance floor!). Plus, it was a blank slate that we could use however we wished. Tami at The Factory was very friendly and got back to us quickly.

St. Paul's Episcopal, Franklin - My parents are members at St. Paul's, and the beautiful windows, history, and smaller size of the church was a large contributing factor to us getting married in Franklin as opposed a number of our other "hometowns". The college chaplain who I worked with very closely flew up from Houston to do the service, which was very meaningful to us.

Nashville Event Lighting (615-414-6724) - I never would've thought about lighting in particular, but when I was walking around Jamison Hall with Lindsey, she started talking about Italian cafe lights and star lanterns. I liked the look of paper lanterns, and I knew stars would be perfect. The lighting, while an unanticipated expense, made the space. It looked like that scene from Hope Floats when they're dancing in the tent but without having to worry about the vagaries of the weather. Phenomenal.

Southern Events Rentals - We used Southern Events for chairs, tableclothes, dance floor, napkins (bandanas), wine glasses, and Mason jars (for non-alcoholic beverages). My mom also rented from them for the rehearsal dinner, which was held at their house. They had just what I wanted. Rentals sure do add up quickly. We decided to use the heavy-duty plasticware provided by the caterer for the dishes. We had no problems with them.

Michael Bambino Photography - Steve Bova (http://www.michaelbambinophotography.com) - My mom booked our photographer after seeing pictures of her co-worker's daughter's wedding, even though they are located in Cincinnati. Steve spent a lot of time with us on the phone about 2 months out from the wedding asking all about different family things (who is divorced, re-married, doesn't like each other, etc.) so the pictures would go smoothly (i.e., no pictures with step-mom and Mom in the same frame). Though I haven't seen the pictures yet, DH and I enjoyed our time with Steve and his assistants Kelly and Amy. They were so friendly and made us feel very comfortable. Steve was always laying on the ground or doing other stuff to get a great shot, and Kelly was clicking away from other directions. Even though he was in a suit and it was 90 degrees outside, Steve never once complained. He set-up a very meaningful first-look for DH and I, which was important to me. After the ceremony, we took some pictures, but I was starting to get tired and wanted to get to the reception. Steve read that on my face and called it quits since we had already take quite a few poses. I very much appreciated that.

Events by Design - Mindy Chaffin (615-591-2897) - Mindy did our flowers, which I was incredibly impressed with. I had showed her some pictures, and from that, she came up with a kind of schema. When I saw them on the day-of, they were EXACTLY what I had imagined. Since it was so hot outside, she even included some extra boutonnieres for the guys in case their flowers wilted. She also set up a "hay bale lounge" with quilts and hay bales for one corner of Jamison Hall, which was super cute. I was very impressed with her work, and her prices were very reasonable considering that she included a lot of "rental-type" items like the containers for the reception flowers.

Dynamic Video (http://www.dynamicvideo7.com) - We decided to hire a videographer since neither of my sets of grandparents were able to come to the wedding due to health problems, and I am so glad we did. Our ceremony was very meaningful to us, and Jennifer was able to capture so many little moments with sound and video like our groomsman's speech that nearly had me in tears and the bell ringing at the church as we exited. She has already sent us a slideshow of low-res video stills and just that got me all worked up!

Limo: Matchless Limo - They only had a white stretch limousine when we called to reserve, but that ended up being what I probably would've picked anyway. The driver was punctual, though there was some miscommunication on a few directions. I had specifically told the lady in the office who called me that we wanted to be dropped off at the back entrance to Jamison Hall, but I guess that didn't get passed on. Overall, it was satisfactory, and the champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries were a nice touch.

Make-up: Bianca Kirby - I found Bianca on Craigslist after losing contact with my original makeup artist. Her prices were very reasonable, and the only cost for a trial was a little money for gas and product. I wasn't that pleased with my trial, but she was willing to change whatever I wanted. The day-of, my make-up was a lot better, and both moms and BMs looked great too. She was a little late because her GPS messed up, and she couldn't find my parents' house, but everyone was finished in time for pictures.

Hair: Jacki at Origina Salon - I originally was going to wear my hair half-up, but after Jacki played with it for a while, she talked me into an updo, which I loved. At my trial, she diffused my hair with a blow-dryer and out came the most beautiful natural curls that I didn't even know I had! She defined them with a curling iron and put my hair into a low up-do. It withstood all of the pictures and dancing all night long.

I took the pictures from the video stills and downloaded them. You can see them at http://picasaweb.google.com/kiramay/Wedding

Hey! I'm in Chattanooga (but originally from Spring City [about an hour north of Chatty], which is where the wedding will take place). My wedding is in only two weeks and four days, so it's coming up pretty quickly.
