heather hendrickson is awesome! for less than $800, she provided the following:

1 bridal bouquet

2 bridesmaids bouquets

1 corsage

3 boutonnieres

5 centerpieces

a gorgeous fountain arrangement consisting of various flowers and a ton of rose petals in varying shades of white and ivory for a beautiful contrast

needless to say, all the flowers were gorgeous. she is totally willing to work with a budget - i would recommend being honest with her and telling her "i am looking to spend $x for the following" and she will be able to tell you what she can do for you. she provided the most reasonable estimate along with the best service compared to all the other florists i talked to. hope this helps!

I'm looking for a seamstress that can make BM dresses from scratch in the east bay/southbay area. I'm looking for someone that is reasonably priced and able to work off measurements versus a live model.

Hi - Anyone know of a reasonably priced, yet awesome florist in the SF Bay Area?

"Reasonably priced" is subject to interpretation, but feel free to recommend anyone that you consider to be "reasonably priced" and if you could quote a price range....even better!

We need to find a caterer in the Bay Area, prefer South Bay (San Jose area) that is afforable and has both American and Indian menus. We want to just use one caterer rather than having 2 to save ourselves (me) the headache.

YES. I was so determined in finding someone that wasn't your club DJ or radio station type that would still play all the music I wanted without thinking I was an old fart but that was smooth and classy.

My wedding planner was not kidding when she gave me the recommendation because after our September 6 event recently, I am floored at how little direction I gave the DJ we selected from the company and how AWESOME he was at hitting my DJ soft spot. When I mean little direction, I mean I gave him my play list details for the reception (and a very minimal one) at the venue when I arrived for the ceremony. No, not two weeks before like they preferred. What can I say, I was a procrastinator (got sick before the wedding). We had discussed ceremony and cocktail music for about 10 minutes on the phone a few weeks prior. He understood exactly what I meant and I was thrilled.

PLEASE contact Denon and Doyle DJs (www.djay.com) and ask for Brian Holmes to be your DJ. They allow you to select a DJ and you can met any and all at a showcase. I booked him blindly based on the recommendation of my coordinator and also Mark Addington at Denon & Doyle.

Trust me when I mean smooth and classy; we had a black tie wedding with professionals (CPAs.....*snore*), our parents and their friends, AND students, and all three crowds were pleased

You'll love their rates. We paid about $1400 for 7 hours of non stop music.

I went there last weekend too. Did you see that guy that is both an officiant and a dj? He gave me the heeby jeebies. Anyways, yes, I agree that it is difficult to find a good dj on a budget. It's one of the biggest reception decisions, since they have such an influence on the ambiance of the party.

I'm curious who the inflatable instrument player is, though. That way I don't accidently choose them.

Is it me, or is this the most difficult vendor to procure? It seems like all the classy professionals in the area are out fo my price range. I went to the Bridal show at Sunrise Mall last weekend and it was decidedly un-helpful. The less expensive DJs were cheesy and kind of scary (one enthuseastically told me about the many-hour meetings we would have at my house to do all the planning together and came with the added bonus of playing inflatible instruments to entertain bored guests). I just haven't been able to get comfortable trusting anyone I've met so far.

Any reccomendations?

Hiya bees,

I am looking for an affordable day of coordinator for my wedding next fall. My venue is super diy, so I need someone that can oversee and manage the wedding day...for example: confirm vendors, tip vendors, usher guest, clean and set-up, make sure all rentals are returned, flowers are set-up, etc. I've helped friends organize their wedding, so I don't need much help in the planning department. I just need a reliable manager!!

I am on a tight budget, so are there any new DOC's looking for some more experience? any referals? Thanks so much!! Email: sunbride1@yahoo.com

I have been a very hands-on DIY bride and the consultants I've talked to so far have tried to alter my plans. I am very open to creative and fresh ideas but the ideas coming my way are cheesy! Like toule, christmas lights everywhere, jordan almonds, etc. So I am on the fence about hiring a day of consultant. My FI works at a local University and I'm thinking of approaching the design students and paying them for the day and giving them direct photos of how I want things...

Hi there. I went to House of Fashion as well. In my experience, the service wasn't terrible but it could have been better. My consultant was triple booked for my 10am appointment....and there were plenty of other brides there. She offered some decent advice that was good for a first timer but mainly her assistant helped me. I agree with Cammie, their selection is completely overwhelming especially for their size (small) store. I remember visiting the store nearly 10 years ago (Jee-bus) for prom dresses and the place looked infinitely better - no clutter - so it's kind of sad to see it in it's current state with racks of dresses everywhere.

With that said, you are free to roam around to look for dresses but make sure to come prepared with pictures. I suggest going on their website to see the list of designers they carry but keep in mind that some listed (like Monique Lhuillier) are not from the current collection. My experience with Bella Donna was only over the phone over a fruitless effort. GL!

I would totally recommend Bella Donna. its on Fulton and Marconi ( i think!). There service was great and they had a good selection (most dresses there that I tried on were between $800 and $2500). I've also been to House of Fashion in midtown. They had a really large selection, it was almost overwhelming in fact. Their prices had an even larger range, but my experience wasn't quite as good. I didn't feel as though they listened to what i wanted in a dress, although i'm sure that is specific to the person who helps you. If you are wiling to spend a bit more an a couture dress, i've heard nothing but rave reviews about Miosa Couture, which is also in midtown. Good Luck!

I know this can be kind of an overkilled topic, but I'm new to this site, and I'm still fairly new to the Sac area (been here two years, but there's a lot of places I don't know about). Anyways, do any of you have recommendations on what shops are great for wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses? When I google on the internet, and the google list connects the shops to the review sites on the 'net, the reviews a lot of times say "this place sucks" and the like. SO, does anyone have any thoughts on which stores have the best selection AND customer service around the Sac/Citrus Heights/Orangevale/Folsom/Roseville/Rocklin area?
