Hi,

I'm getting married in May 09. We chose the Palm as I was very impressed by Clay and the location, and the reasonable costs. Seems like a homerun. I have heard lots of good reviews from people that went to weddings there and they liked it. I'm definitely encouraged!

You can get 6000 rose petals for $139 at fiftyflowers.com. It seems like a really good deal. I think it's headquarters is in Ojai, CA, so perhaps this company is the one you're the one you're thinking about earlier.

I went with Joanna at the Floral Ornament and she was wonderful! She has a store in the financial district, but def does wedding on the Peninsula. I basically told her what I needed for my budget and asked to see what she could make. She surprised me with how lush and beautiful everything was. I wonder if she made any profit off my wedding. PM for more info/photos

We are doing what you are. We have hired a florist to take care of bouquets, boutonnieres and also the cake topper. However, we're ordering the florals for our centerpieces from Sam's Club believe it or not. A friend of mine outfitted her whole wedding with Sam's Club florals and they were gorgeous. Flowers aren't really my thing and I don't care that they aren't fancy or exotic so it seemed like a nice option for me!

For my shower, the lady that hosted it actually picked up beautiful white and black magic roses from Walmart. They were amazing and stayed fresh for a week after! I was impressed (and shocked)

While I still intend to have a florist create the bridal party bouquets, boutonnieres, and centerpieces, I am wondering whether it's worth it to save a little money and order extra flowers and rose petals online. I feel funny paying $30 for five rose heads worth of petals. It just seems like I should buy a bouquet or roses and separate them myself.

Way back when I started wedding planning, I read about some online sites where one could order various flowers and petals from local (Northern California) growers. I can't remember any of the names (I think one is a five letter word that starts with "O.") What have been people's experiences with ordering over the Internet? How did you ensure you got the color you wanted? Any site you'd recommend? Any site that sells food safe rose petals (to place on the wedding cake)?

i got mine done in fremont which is right across the dumbarton bridge from palo alto..i had my dress done at an all natural cleaners called green leaf cleaners...its great b/c they don't use any harsh chemicals to clean your clothes and they still come out really well cleaned and the lack of chemicals also helps to preserve the life of your garments....i highly recommend them as they also do the preservation in box and what not...oh and they have a 20% off coupon on their site for ALL CLEANING SERVICES which i used and provided a significant discount...

Ok let's do Saturday, October 4th then.

Superstar, if you want to do it near golden gate park, we could always meet up somewhere in the 9th and Irving area. It's within walking distance to the park and the N Judah.

Or the union square or embarcadero would be an easily recognizable location.

I throw out a couple of suggestions. For the inner sunset, there's Pacific Catch, Park Chow, Marnee Thai.

Downtown: Fog City Diner, Nordstrom Bistro Cafe, California Pizza Kitchen.

Just throwing out a couple of mid range restaurants that probably wouldn't mind us hanging around for awhile.

Any suggestions? Preferences?
