My venue took care of all of those details for me...the only thing I did on my own was selecting the table linens. My venue worked with Pedersen's Rentals (they are in the SoDo area...a little south of Qwest Field). They have a "show room" and will show you how the linens look on the table, etc.

If I had to do it myself, I would definitely work with Rented Elegance (try googling them). I ordered lounge seating from them, but they are a full service event rental company...they'll do the table set up, arches, etc. Check out their website because they have so many beautiful things you can rent from them.

Seattle Bees,

I'm an older bride (38) getting hitched in an outdoor ceremony next August. I have a very specific dress in mind that reflects my taste and is age appropriate. It's knee length but elegant and romantic, and NOT strapless. Unfortunately, this dress exists only in my imagination. It most closely resembles this pictured dress except for the color (I want ivory), length of the dress, and depth of the V neck. I'd love to have my dream dress made. The two most important questions: who and how much? I've heard of women having custom dresses made for under 1K. Can it be done? Does anyone know of a skilled Seattle dressmaker to do the job? I've heard good things about Kiko on first Ave. Any advise will be appreciated.

Just wondering... is it okay (or maybe I should say, is it legal???) to use a picture of a gown that I like and have it custom-made by a seamstress that I know? Are the dresses copyrighted? I, too, am on a tight budget and woouldn't want to spend over $1000 on a dress.

You may have a dress at this point, but I thought I'd add another place to get nice wedding dresses for under $1000 just in case. Try going to a Making Memories event, which is a breast cancer organization that raises money by selling bridal gowns that designers donate. There are a couple of events that will be hosted in October in Washington. You can check out www.makingmemories.org for more information.

The dresses run from $99-$799, sizes 4-24, and you can find designers like Christos, Jasmine, Melissa Sweet. Also, seamstresses attend the event to help you figure alteration costs and decide on a dress. I bought a 100% silk Marisa dress for $499, around 60% less than the original cost. I was excited!

My sister stayed at the Edgewater on her wedding night, which was in May. I think the price was around $240. She got a regular City View Deluxe room, and she and her husband really liked their room. I'm not sure if this in your price range, but it was one of the more luxurious, affordable rooms that we could find for that date.

You can see if your reception site has any deals with any hotels in Seattle. Also, you can try www.kayak.com to find some deals. It's a meta search engine of travel sites.

I went to Darcy Martin. I didn't have anything major done, but I thought her rate was about the same as what I would have paid at a bridal salon. The reason I went to her was because the bridal salon I purchased my dress from could only do alterations one day out of the week and most of the appointments open were in the middle of the day and I didn't want to take 2 hours off work to go up there and get fitted, etc.

I had a bustle created, a hem all around and the halter strap shortened for $250. She's really nice, super quick and accommodates different schedules.

Hope that helps!

Make sure when calling around you ask if it's possible to do separate tickets for large parties. In my experience, most places will only do one check for a large group.

I am attempting to plan a non-hosted Friday activity with all of my wedding guests. I am looking for a restaurant that can accomodate a large group of people, although we probably won't be able to make our reservation until a week or so before. We are NOT paying for this, so everything will be on tickets according to families. A place with ample parking is a must. A location around Bellevue would be wonderful.

Any suggestions?

I've had several cakes for work birthdays from Borracchini's and they were great. A friend of mine also used them for her wedding and it was very tasty. I also like the light frosting (almost like whipped cream)

The prices are really reasonable - starting $200 for stacked cakes that serve 100 people.
