So....in 30 days my FI and I will be leaving for Jamaica to get married. He is leaning towards kinky twists, I am leaning toward either micros or an afro...more toward the micros though.

Which style would the bees pick??

Disclaimer: The pictures aren't exactly what the actual styling of the 'fro, micros, or kinky twists would be...

A friend and I were having a discussion about how most of us use our cousin and them to help with our day when we could hire a professional and come out with a stellar result, oftentimes cheaper, and not as much of a headache in the end. How many cousin's and them are you using for your day that aren't professionals? For instance I hear over and over about the stresses of using a family member has caused because the family member exerted their style and didn't budge when the bride wanted a more modern aesthetic.

Personally I have aunts and them.. They won't be used :D... They have big personalities and well I have a biggger one, I guess it's one good thing that comes from being an older bride (29 or 30 who knows since i'm not engaged yet lol)... I honestly don't give a fart about what they say because i'm not a child and know exactly what i want...

crebre80 on "Is anyone not jumping the broom or doing other culturally expected traditions?"

What cultural aspects are you bringing into the wedding? I'm curious about this because it seems that M and I are trending towards marriage within the year. I really don't want to jump the broom (deathly afraid of falling and being cursed throughout our marriage!!)

M definitely wants to get married in a church, which I really don't want to do because at 7 I dreamed of an outdoor wedding. He finds this strange because everyone he knows has gotten married in a church.

However I definitely want to do the tasting of the four elements because I think it's such a cool tradition. (for those that don't know it dramatizes the “Traditional” promise to love “for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health.” The four elements that the Rev. Valentine uses -- lemon, vinegar, cayenne pepper, and honey -- represent the sour, the bitter, the hot, and the sweet times of marriage) and i think M would love that.

All of this is probably premature because I'm sure I'll be waiting another year, but i wanted to know what you ladies think!

**Sidenote: Evidently M has thought a lot about everything and has decided that he wants a February or March wedding so that we can go to the Caribbean for our honeymoon, and he knows I'll need about 4 or 5 months to plan so I'm figuring next fall for his proposal. I find it so hilarious because I actually have never thought about a honeymoon or where I'd go?! LOL!!!

Hey, new to Weddingbee as a Bride-to-Be. I'm an encore bride and planning a very intimate and low key vintage hollywood glam themed Fall 2011 wedding. Plan to get hitched at SF City Hall or Court house. Then follow it up with an intimate reception for family and friends and then hit the after party at one of the Bay Area's premier night clubs Looking forward to sharing my ideas and getting some feedback and experiencing your ideas as well. Happy planning. :-D
