...So my fiancee and I are planning our wedding in Orlando, Florida. We currently reside in California, but I am from Orlando. So, we budgeted for 150-180 people. The thing is that he wants to invite > 200 people FROM HIS FAMILY ALONE! Crazy, I know!

He says that he "knows his family" and that they won't travel all the way to Florida for the wedding. He just wants everyone to feel that they are being treated equally and doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings (he claims that "this is just how his family is..." my family is the same way, but hey - i have made sacrifices).

He's even said that if he can't invite ALL of his extended family, then he will just invite his immediate family and that's that. (OMG, I know)

My invite list has been cut back and cut back b/c I know that my family will travel anywhere to see me get married... And I don't want to overcommit ourselves by inviting more people than we can afford. He seems to think it's fine for him to invite significantly more people than me (twice as many, maybe more?) because, in his eyes, they won't be coming.

I still think it's risky. I mean, what if they ALL decide to show up? The wedding is on a long holiday weekend...

ANYONE HAVE AN EXPERIENCE LIKE THIS? HOW'S IT GOING/HOW DID IT WORK OUT/WHAT DID YOU DO?

We argue about this intensely every single time we talk about it. And I can't stand to go through that anymore.

Please help!

Thanks!

hi ladies,

i have long thick locs (i've been growing them for over 7 years). i've started and maintained them myself the entire time, so im a bit of a novice to natural hair salons (the last time i went to one was when i got my perm cut off!).

i haven't had much luck finding photos of formal loc hairstyles for women with LONG locs. i have two photos and i'm not crazy about either style. I'm looking for a chic, simple updo - maybe a low textured bun slightly to the side, or something along those lines....anyone have photos or links to good styles?

My FI keeps going on and on about him not wanting me to put a weave in my hair on our wedding day. We had this arguement/discussion too often now and its really pissin' me off. He says I am beautiful with my own hair and when he looks back on pics he wants to see ME with my own hair and blah blah blah. I've only put in extensions my hair about 4 or 5 times during our 6 year relationship, and only for special occations like a vacation (where my hair would get wet eveyday) or our engagement shoot. I don't wear it because I think I'm not pretty with my natural hair or anything like that. My hair is a little longer than shoulder length and somewhat thin and there really aren't many things I can do with it on dressier occasions. I searched and searched and I can't seem to find any hairstyles for my wedding that wouldn't require a weave.

Does anyone else have this problem with their SO? Does your man have a problem with hair extensions? I really want to take his opinions into consideration, but c'mon I look fierce with a good weave! lol

Thank you ladies, I was able to find the best hair accessory. I have natural hair and have been toying with the idea of actually wearing it straight because I couldn't find something for my hair. I absolutely love this piece, ladies let me know what you think.

I am just looking for someone that can relate to guestlists of 500+ and family members that fight you tooth and nail to get their way on YOUR wedding day.

I've tried posting this before, let's see if it works.... I know they are long but it's the most important part of the day...

Bob Marley said it best,
“He’s not perfect. You aren’t either, and the two of you will never be perfect. But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can. He isn’t going to quote poetry, he’s not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break. Don’t hurt him, don’t change him, and don’t expect for more than he can give. Don’t analyze. Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he’s not there. Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don’t exist, but there’s always one guy that is perfect for you.”

God, timing and yahoo personals brought us together. I was initially attracted to your smile, sense of humor and state of origin. There was something different about our interaction that I noted from our first communication. Instead of rushing things, I painstakingly committed to savoring you like the tastiest chocolate dessert, slowly, bite by bite. It became clear to me pretty soon that you were MY baby, from being the only man who could tell me to shut up to challenging me express and share my feelings.

You taught me that it was okay to be vulnerable, alright to lean on someone, acceptable to enjoy being the passenger and not the driver all the time, but most importantly you taught me how to love you, daringly and blindly, without expectations or limitations. You even channeled patience and showed fortitude by taking the time to teach me how to ride a bicycle. And for all that I will always love you and call you my first, conscious love.

As we stand here, after years of unknotting the kinks between us and before our family that we have woven together, I pledge/promise to you my undying love, in this place, that place and the next, in tandem for all time. I carry your heart, I carry it in my heart. I am blessed to share this time and space with you, a man made just for me by God. Let's never be normal and always be us.

Hi, I decided on a colored dress before I was even engaged. I just think white gowns are boring (no offense) but anyway what color did you choose and why? I chose chocolate because I think its rich and pretty plus I just love chocolate, lol.
