Thanx for the replies so far. I just can't adapt to the Mr. and Mrs. after being married. I'll have to think about it.

bluebutterfly it'd be awesome if you could ask your parents. Thanx.

My husband didn't incorporate anything Peruvian and neither did his three cousins whose weddings I've gone to as well. Our hall didn't allow external food anyway. And hubby actually isn't aware of any ethnic wedding related traditions. Sorry I can't help you. However, their cuisine is great and the salsa band will be a hit if you do it. Good live entertainment always helps, and the Peruvians at our wedding loved dancing to salsa.

I do have a question for you too! Did your husband incorporate his culture into your wedding? My dad plans to make some tasty Peruvian dishes and maybe hire a salsa band.

Maybe you should stick to the Mr. and Mrs. If they want things to be more casual, I'm sure that they will say "oh, please call me firstname." It is always better to be more formal than casual as to not offend anybody.

Hello Fellow Bees,

I'm a newlywed, married to a Peruvian. I don't know what the proper way is to address my in-laws. The most natural thing for me to do would be to call them by their first names, but I don't know if they want that. My parents told my hubby straightaway that he should call them by their first names, so he's got no issue.

Until the wedding my inlaws they were Mr and Mrs to me, but it's unnatural to call your inlaws that once you're married, I think. I've asked my husband to ask them what they want to be called and whether I can call them by their first name, but he's resisting that conversation. He says things in Peru are a lot more formal than here and he thinks I should stick to the Mr and Mrs.

Does anyone know what to do or what the custom for this is in Peru..Since my husband has been in the US since he was little and his grandparents live in Peru, he doesn't know for sure what the customs are.

I am Puerto Rican and FI is half Puerto Rican and half West Indian (Barbadian). We both grew up in the Bronx so don't really know of many wedding traditions from Puerto Rico and since PR is so americanized anyway I am not sure there are myny like the other hispanic/latin countries. I do know that in PR it is customary to have Padrinos but not sure if we're having any

His grandparents only speak Spanish so we were going to have the vows in english/ than in spanish or try to add something in spanish for them. even though my spanish is VERY bad, I still try.

My FI is Colombian as well and I've been asking what traditions he wants to include. He can't think of any specific rituals or anything that he wants to include, but we've come up with a few ways to include his heritage. We are having our rehearsal dinner at our favorite Colombian restaurant, will be serving aguardiente at the reception, and will have Colombian candy included somewhere (still figuring that out.) We are also playing a lot of Latin music (still debating about the DJ v. band) and will be dancing a cumbia for our first dance.

Ok so another BORICUA(Puerto Rican) here. My FI is half Puerto Rican and half West Indian(Barbados). We are not really incorporating any of our heritages except for the live band and dj which will be playing Salsa,Merengue,Bachata all night. FI was born and raised in Bronx, NY and I was raised there so we don't know what traditions there are in PR. I am thinking of using Padrinos though
