Hi all! Coming to the hive for some help...

I've been searching high and low for a Seattle/Tacoma area photographer that will stay within my budget of $1500. I would like 5 hours of photography and the digital rights as well as all pictures on DVD. You would think this is doable, but the photographers I've contacted seem to be more around the $2k mark for these services. The photographers I have found to be within my budget...well, I'm not sure I *LOVE* their style. One in particular only had 2 pictures of a bride (!!) in their entire online wedding portfolio. Most pics were of details, candles, flowers etc.

Help! Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated!

Tenacious on "Marcella's La Boutique"

I hope that every bride and bride-to-be reads my review of this place and of Marcella (the owner) so that they can stay clear away from this bridal shop because I believe that your wedding dress shopping experience should be a blissfully memorable one and Marcella's La Boutique made it a horrific nightmare for me.

I don't intend for this review to be a regurgitation of what happened nor do I want to use this forum to vent. If you are looking to make an appointment at this bridal salon, please keep in mind the following (and learn from my experience):

1. Marcella and her staff will try and charge you additional costs that you've never discussed prior to purchase. I was told to pay $350 to ship my gown because I am not a local bride. This was not mentioned at all but Marcella and her staff will insist that they positively mentioned it to you during your appointment and that your excitement over the dress distracted you from hearing it.

2. Be prepared to pay for the gown in full in a couple of days even if you've ordered the gown and it has yet to arrive. Marcella and her staff will call you repeatedly starting from the day after you've signed the contract and paid for the deposit to hassle you about paying the balance.

3. Read the contract carefully and make sure that whatever they've promised is included in the contract. Based on the reviews on this place so far, it seems that they like to use the tactic of trying to get you to agree to purchase and then pulling all sorts of nasty tricks to get more money from you or withhold things that were promised.

4. Take your alterations elsewhere and save money. Marcella charges $500 as a starting point for basic alterations. She does not define what "major alterations" means in the contract and she has been known to charge upwards of $1,000 for two fittings because the bride was a few sizes too small to fit the dress.

My wedding consultant went from super soft spoken nice young girl during the appointment to a bitchy, argumentative and rude car salesman following the purchase of my gown. I was almost brought to tears after being told to basically shut up because they had given me such a good price on my dress and I shouldn't be complaining about hidden fees that were not explained to me before the purchase.

If I could go back and do it all over and get my deposit money back, I would do so in a heartbeat. No wedding dress is worth being made a fool of. Take your money elsewhere. There are other stores that carry the same designers but offer a much better experience.

My fiance and I would really like to meet with a financial advisor to make sure we're doing the right things with our money (we don't have lots of it, so we want to make sure we're making what we do have count!). Does anyone have any suggestions for someone they like in the Seattle area? I googled it and came up with WAY too many so I want someone I know is good :) The cheaper the better, I have no idea what this could cost. If there is a way to do something through being a UW alum/student that will work too. It seems like all the resources I have through school have to do with financial aid, and I'm still getting student loans, I want advice on things like buying houses and investing!

Thanks :)

I am looking for a makeup artist in the Seattle area. We are getting married at Semiahmoo Resort north of Seatlle and would like someone to come to the location for the entire wedding party.

Unfortunately, I live in San Francisco, so it has been hard to find an artist in the north of Seattle area. I contact the Macy's nearest the wedding location and they have NO trained makeup artists on staff. Unbelievable!

Before I resort to posting on Craigslist, I was hoping the Bees would have a vendor reccomendation.

Thanks!
