I live in NYC, saw the event, and have a friend who died in the attack. It was a very scary and emotional day. So obviously, I would not get married on that date myself. And honestly, if I opened a wedding invitation and saw it was on 9/11, I would not be thrilled. If I had friends or family that didn't have a problem with the date and got married then, I would love to go to their wedding! And I certainly wouldn't think it was "distasteful" for them to have it then.
