Vera Girl on "Destination Wedding + Vietnamese Tea Ceremony"

I'm having a destination wedding in Bali, but getting married at a resort.

We're having our tea ceremony in the afternoon before the wedding ceremony.

We have just invited our families to the tea ceremony (about 50 people), and they will stay on for the wedding ceremony and reception. The rest of our guests will just arrive for the wedding ceremony and reception.

I would maybe think about doing the tea ceremony in your hotel suite, if it's large enough, as having it on the beach might be a little inconvenient with re-filling teapots etc.

you can go to Q bridal, thier custom made gowns are around $300-$500.

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.363600272893.155408.147588967893&type=3

getting invitation done there is def a good idea. It can be custom made with high quality printing at S2-$4/set (invitation, save the date, thank you card)

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.169519449753220.30042.125303854174780&type=3

I did get some Nón Lá for the decoration of my wedding as well, they were very unique and the guests loved them. I got them in two variation: ceramic windchimes and paper drops. I also wore Non La with Vietnamese calligraphy on them (Just married). My hubby had so much fun wearing it.

Here are some pics of them

My Ao Dai was not red nor pink because I didnt have a traditional Vietnamese Wedding's ceremony. My family is in Vietnam. Just wore Ao dai for the civl ceremony and had it in dark ivory lace. The pants are silk. I had it made in Vietnam and sent to Holland few days before the wedding. It fitted me well.

i keep reading about the money dance here but oddly enough i've never seen an actual money dance in all the filipino weddings i've been to. ever!

for filipino weddings it's usually a ceremony in a church with the full mass. the entourage is usually composed of, aside from the bridesmaids and groomsmen, principal sponsors (the godmothers and godfathers of the wedding) and secondary sponsors (candle, veil, cord)

after a full mass is the reception. traditionally, there's the release of the doves, cutting of the cake, drinking of wine (in criss crossed arms), the bouquet toss, and garter toss. back then (as in waay back then when i would still be a flower girl), there was this thing they do for all the single ladies. the bottom of the wedding cake usually has this ribbon with kind of like a fortune on it and the end hangs out on the side of the cake. the single ladies are asked to gather around and pull a fortune. i never really got what this is for. but i don't see this being done anymore. as with the other traditions above. some of them are sort of modernized. like the release of the doves, sometimes they do it before leaving the church or instead of doves, they release butterflies or balloons. some don't even do it anymore. the bouquet and garter toss, in more recent years, some do games instead of the actual toss and the winners of the games get the bouquet and the garter.

but what i still see a lot of in filipino weddings are the superstitions. my cousin is getting married at the end of this month and the superstitions of the older ones are killing her! (and me too sometimes since i'm helping her out with the planning)

we are both filipinos. though he's a quarter italian and i'm a quarter spanish, we consider ourselves 100% filipinos since we were both born and raised in the philippines.

i'm pretty sure we're having a traditional filipino wedding. though we haven't talked about it yet since we only got engaged this weekend. :)

I think I might get mine made in Vietnam and have it shipped over here. Debating between red or hot pink.

Please share!

You're in a tough situation since your future in laws are paying for everything. My parents are not helping us financially with our wedding, so it was a little easier to say no to most of their requests. In fact, one of them was that they insisted we get married at an Asian restaurant. I think they just want to what all their friends children have done it the past.

I know you posted this two months ago, so hopefully you have some resolution to your problem. I'd be interested in learning what happened!
