agreed. our 1.5 hour cushion time for lunch (sandwiches) at my place turned into 30 minutes of "cram it and go!"

Don't forget to feed your bridesmaids and/or allot time for lunch

good question..I wish I'd handled that week better and maybe not worked as much as I worked, bc it got very frantic...besides primping that HAD to be done the week of the wedding, here's some things I could've done earlier:

1) finalize programs

2) pack (I was really crazy and didn't do much until the day before)

3) pew decorations (didn't care about these, but it still stressed me out that day)

4) minor clarification left on the service "wording"...questions from the pastor that weekend!

5) I totally forgot to bring the maps to the rehearsal dinner TO the rehearsal and apparently forgot to invite my singer, and I felt so bad...

Usually I'm well organized (I'm a project manager) and have a good memory, but I was overwhelmed w/ wedding emotions and seeing all the relatives

One piece of wedding advice I'd ignored is telling people what you expected from them...I thought we were kosher w/o me being TOO bossy, but people didn't really know what they were doing and some people let me down when they didn't help out with set up..but, there is only so much you can control, so just make sure you have some cushion time built into your schedule...I did, and I used every minute of it!

I scrapped the idea of doing programs...until we had our rehearsal 2 days before our wedding and it was scorching hot outside. The night before the wedding, when my husband was supposed to be out with the guys, they were instead sitting at home making fan programs. (I was busy cutting and arranging all the flowers) They eventually made it out for a couple drinks, but that was very last minute.

I also never got around to washing my car, which we were using as our getaway car, so I had my MOH drive it through a gas station car wash when I was getting my hair done.

I also spent forever looking for the absolute perfect shade of nail polish for my fingers, which I never found. I meant to just paint them a color I already had early morning the wedding day, but got busy and forgot until ~1hr before the ceremony. Oops!

Oh, and we didn't pack for our 10 day European honeymoon until the day after the wedding...the same day we were leaving! (I did have our passports and plane and train tickets ready plenty in advance though).

The last week we were making and packaging our favors (homemade caramels and dark chocolate with five-spice truffles)--I had my whole family, husband, and my MOH's boyfriend helping. We also had 200 roses and 100 orchid stems to cut, water and repeat before making 3 bouquets and 5 ceremony flower arrangements. We also had about 10 corsages and 8 bouts to make from orchids, some chinese tree stems, and some roses. We also had to spray paint the flower girl's basket. We had to print out escort cards and ceremony programs--these were easy though. I got a facial at a spa and bought some make up/got a make up lesson from the woman at the counter. We picked up a bow tie. The day of, I got my hair and nails done, then finished up the corsages until about 15 minutes before the ceremony when I put my dress on and walked across the street to the church. We also had to pack, but since we were staying in a city we weren't too worried about forgetting anything since if it was really important we could just buy it. It was intense, but really worth it I think. If you have a florist and are done with your favors, I don't think you should have too much to worry about the week before. I think having so much to do beforehand calmed me down though--it was definitely a good distraction. Good luck!

I think this is my favorite thread EVER. The week before my wedding is Christmas ... so I know everyone says it but I really really really want to try and have everything done before hand. For most of our vendors I am saying that our last meeting is taking place on December 15th ... I want everything solid by then, and I think they will appreciate it too. I totally get there are some last minute things that are unavoidable but this list is going to help. I think it will also help that I can definitely pack for my honeymoon in October since I won't be needing ANY of the same clothes in Boston that I will in Hawaii! :)

I had A LOT of stuff to get ready before I left work. That stressed me out a lot in the days before the wedding ( I only took one day before the wedding off). Make sure you have everything ready to leave work.

I had a melt-down with the programs the week before the wedding, and had to overnight them to the person who made them so they could be fixed (it was my error). I had to get my nails done. Pack up all my stuff to take to the hotel we were staying in the day of the wedding and the night after the wedding. And buy my wedding day jewelry! (it was a birthday gift from my mom, but the earrings didn't work out so she had to return them and buy different ones the day of the wedding! Luckily our wedding was late in the day).

Packing for the honeymoon!

Also, picking up our paper products (table numbers, escort cards, programs, etc.), tux pick-ups and final fittings (groom and groomsmen), getting nails done (bride and bridesmaids), and planning rehearsal schedule.

Oh, and rearranging the seating chart and finding last-minute people to invite after about five guests dropped out the WEEK OF.

DON'T FORGET YOUR TRAVEL VOUCHERS FOR YOUR HONEYMOON!

Sounds simple, but i left them tacked to the fridge. Ironically, where I couldn't miss them. I brought the wrong swimsuit bottom on our hm, too! It's hard to pack the day after your wedding just so you know.

Didn't mean to scare you! But if you aren't feeding family at your house it shouldn't be so bad! Those sandwiches and fruit trays were ideal though--we had a break on the way to the wedding at my house, and i fed all my bridesmaids. Everybody was happy and content. Feed them or they get grouchy =]

I wasnt TOO busy but there were a lot of little odds and ends. I had to pick up the napkins and specialty tablecloths from the linen company, fold the napkins (didnt want to pay extra $ to the venue for the fold I wanted when I could do it myself), make the place cards, finish the menu cards, gather everything together and organize it, wrapped bridal party gifts. We didnt pack until the morning we left for the honeymoon, 2 days later.

The week before the wedding I was busy with: Programs, OOT bags, Seating Chart/Placecards, Confirming Vendors, Touching base w/ the Bridal Party, Favors, Wrapping Bridal Party gifts, PACKING EVERYTHING, Nails, & Dropping items off with catering staff. It wasn't too crazy, but it was definitely busy! I enjoyed it though b/c I would have gone stir crazy if I had been sitting that whole week w/ nothing to do!
