If anyone is low on milk supply here are something that worked for me. Drinking raspberry leaf tea or stinging nettle tea. You can find those items at a natural item heath store. But if you are pregnant with your second and still breast feeding the first dont drink raspberry leaf tea as it brings on labour. Women always say a beer also helps make the milk come in but honestly i didtn see anything different.

Update:

Hailey hasn't used the nipple shield AT ALL in 40 hours! It's still a work in progress, I'm completely topless to make it easier/all access (hah!) and using the My Brest Friend pillow for help but still :)

@Mrs. DG: Thanks! The first day she actually latched on, even though it was with a shield, I had tears in my eyes I was so happy. She seems to latch a lot better on my left breast, it is also my bigger producer. When she latches on my right she sometimes gets more of the top of the areola then the bottom and it is painful so I have to break the latch and try again or else my nipple comes out looking deformed, it's painful and I know it isn't good for either of us. Using the nipple shield for a minute before or pumping first did seem to help the latch a little but she still is much much better on my left side. I've been pumping so my breasts arn't uneven in size due to the preference and she still has been nursing both sides, just getting a lot of help on the right side with the shield.

@Sulli301: Hang in there. I can't tell you how hard those first 6 weeks were for us... so much so that even now, everytime we have a painless successful latch (which is consistent unless she accidently messes up with those pesky teeth!) I'm so appreciative and happy. Of course now that she's just about a year, I have to start thinking about weaning :(

I can tell it is getting better but sometimes, like today, I feel like we'll go two steps forward and one step back :/ I like the idea of pumping before an anticipated feed, I'll try that. It's really hard but I really want it to work for her and for me!

@Sulli301: It took us about 6 weeks to get it all down pat... It took a lot of repositioning to get it right all the time, but we eventually got there. Pumping an ounce or so off before an anticipated feeding really helped so she wouldn't get so flooded.

We never used the nipple shield after about 6 weeks.

Stay strong momma!

@jubyju22: First of all Congrats on your baby :) yay!

Yes I do have a pump and that's a good idea, I will have to try it. She seems to be getting better about her latch, she does it more then doesn't but still it isn't every time yet. Sometimes she opens wide and knows exactly what to do and other times she just barely opens her mouth and licks and acts like she just wants the nipple which is hard, especially when I start to leak on her/myself! Thanks for the tank suggestion, I might order one off amazon. Does it fit true to your nursing bra chest size? I do have a nursing cover but right now I just don't think I could nurse in public because she still doesn't just latch on all the time and without the nursing pillow I don't know if I could master it :/ I hope to be able to soon. Thanks, I'm really determined to breast feed and am glad I didn't just give up after a week because it is SO much better then it was at one week and even better then it was a few days ago...it is just a LONG and slow process. I am gonna try the pump idea for her next feeding and will report back :)
