@Westvillebride: I am doing both hair and make up because I want that to look "special" on our wedding day, and not like my everyday self. I also know that certain make up artists know how to make my face look good in photos!

Besides, I have no idea how to do hair, lol.

If you're on a tight budget, you can get your hair and make up donw, then give your BMs the option to get their hair/make up done - but have them pay for it. I was in a wedding where we did that, so I just got my hair done but did my own make up.

I don't really trust anyone else to do my makeup better than I can myself. I have weird skin and I know it well.

I did have a pro do my hair, but I wish I'd done a full trial (with veil) because it wasn't as secure as I'd hoped, but it was still very nice.

Personally I don't know how to make my hair do anything besides have it straight and down, so if you want a complicated hairstyle then I would pay for someone to do it. I've also never dealt with positioning a veil and I have no idea if thats difficult. I do my makeup all the time, so I don't see the point in paying someone else to do it. Also makeup takes like 10 minutes, whereas a complicated hairdo can take a lot longer. I'll second the offering the option to your bridesmaids, but not forcing them to get anything done.

I could not have been happier that I had my hair and makeup professionally done on my wedding day. There is SO much for the bride to think about, so it was so, so comforting and relieving to know that I didn't need to worry about my hair and makeup and that my pros would take care of me.

I gave my bridal party the option. I felt the services were too expensive to require my girls to have them done.

My wedding is right around the corner and I think that I want to go ahead and book a hair and make up appointments for my wedding but they all seem to be so expensive especially if I wanted to include my bridal party (I live in NYC - so everything is expensive!) so I was wondering what other Bees plans / experiences are - were you happy you used one? Think you could have done better yourself?

hmm i agree i think a flower will be too much.. and if you don't like veils... how about a beaded hair piece to compliment the beading on the dress?

Maybe something like this?

Bees, I am in need of hairpiece and shoe ideas. Because of the flower on my sash, I am afraid a flower in my hair will be too much. I have tried on veils and I don't feel like myself in them. Thoughts???
