Hello hive!

I'm getting married Sept 25th and since its my tenure year I was advised to take my honeymoon during one of the breaks and since Christmas is the closest week long break that is our plan.

And, yes, I know it might be pricey...

Any warm suggestions?

Thanks!

I think monsoon season is just too unpredictable. You could always stay with the tried and true Mexico or Hawaii, and save Thailand for a gret trip when the weather is good. Airfare to Mexico should be more affordable too.

My fiancee and I were planning to go to Southern Thailand (the beaches) for our honeymoon from the end of May - mid June but we've been hearing mixed things about the weather. It is monsoon season, and some have told us it pours for 30 minutes a day and the rest of the day is gorgeous sunshine and others are telling us it could rain for 3 days straight. Any advice?!?!? If not Thailand, any recommendations for GORGEOUS beaches, great food, great spas, but is not that expensive once you are there??

I know we looked there. My FI and I discussed it we may do Italy for ten days. I have friends that have been there in May and said that the weather was warm but not beach weather. I think I can deal with that and just plan activities that do not revolve around the beach. How about Greece for you?

My wedding is in early May as well, and we still have no idea where to go for our honeymoon! We were thinking Costa Rica, but I've heard that May is the start of the rainy season there...

Awww. Date Twins! We are planning on going to Jamacia for our honeymoon. The Sandles resort has a golf course thats free with booking. I think all is what you have to pay is the cart fee.. or whatever its called. Not to meantion they have like amazing deals going on right now and you can get like 65 percent off! Also its an all inclusive. Good luck deciding!

Getting married in early May and my FI and are having trouble picking where to go on our honeymoon. I really want to do Greece/Italy but not sure if it will be hot enough during that time to enjoy the coast and ocean in Greece or Italy. Where are some of you other May brides going on your honeymoon? Any tips from past brides?

You should go to as many places as you can!

I've been to Bangkok, Koh Samui, Koh Lanta, Phuket / Koh Phi Phi in Thailand. They are all beautful. Just make sure you avoid the monsoon season.

I'd recommend going to Siem Reap in Cambodia and visiting Angkor Wat. It can be a lot of walking / climbing, but there really is no other place like Angkor Wat. 3-4 days there will be plenty.

And you probably know all about the budget airlines in SE Asia. You can fly for like $20 from Thailand to Bali, even (Air Asia, One-Two-Go, etc...)

I've been to Hanoi and some remote communities in Vietnam (for work). Hanoi is a beautiful city with a lot of history and culture. Food is great, too.

My sister went to the Maldives and Malaysia for her honeymoon. She wasn't wowed by Malaysia, but probably because she was spoiled by the Maldives!!

We did Moorea and Bora Bora for 10 days. We stayed at the Inter Continental both times. I highly recommend it. We did Moorea first and then Bora Bora. We had an amazing time in Moorea - I swam with a dolphin, we rented a car and drove around, etc. But then we went to Bora Bora and it was at a whole new level! Bora Bora is breathtakingly beautiful. It is a lot more expensive to stay in Bora Bora than Moorea, but I think it's worth it.

I agree that food is ridiculously expensive, at the hotels, at the restaurants, even at the local wal-mart type of supermarket we went to in Moorea -- but everything was absolutely delicious.

On our way back, we had 7 hours in Tahiti, and I think we would have enjoyed spending 1 or 2 days in Tahiti, but I can't complain.

We used Pacific Holidays to book the trip. Our agent was Marta Visu. We scored a huge deal because we got a lot of free nights and Air Tahiti Nui had introduced some really cheap fairs that Marta had.

I LOVED Alaska! I didn't do a cruise, but I went with a friend who had family there, who owned fishing grounds / camps. We spent one day river fishing, one day deep sea fishing on Kenai Peninsula. And then we spent a few days driving all the way to Denali and camped there. This was obviously not a romantic trip, but I really recommend doing deep sea fishing. I'm not an outdoorsy person at all, but it was really incredible fishing out in the ocean, the glaciers as your background, whales swimming by your ship, eagles snatching bait off of your ship, puffins flying by....
