I don't think they're worth the extra expense. Yes they're cute and novel but from the ones I have seen in person, the post office puts their post mark stamp on top of them which defeats the entire purpose of the custom stamps.

I think they are super cute and a great idea I just know that we can't afford them. I think that the ones that the post office offers are cute anyway:

https://shop.usps.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10052&productId=10001793&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=&parent_category_rn=10000075&categoryId=10000107&top_category=10000075

(its two gold rings and ribbon... and they're only 44 cents each!)

Not worth it! People don't notice the envelope or the stamp for more than a moment and for you to put all that effort (not to mention money!) into it would be such a loss!

Ok, so I got sucked into looking at the personalized stamps from zazzle....found some really cute ideas to incorporate how we met wit these!!!! Totally got me excited to be able to put a little something on their to send out the invitiations and save the dates with where/how we met....

They are a bit pricy (shee of 20 for $20.60) and not sure if it would be worth it to do custom stamps? Has anyone gotten stamps from here and what are your thoughts on using them are they worth it or not? Are there any other websites that are cheaper?

I agree with the other posters. Not really my choice and I can understand your FI's hesitation.... I like the idea of using these as a save the date though!

I think these are really cute for an engagement announcement or a std. It's not my cup of tea either for an invite, but they are cute.

It really depends on the style of the wedding because the invitations set the tone. If your FI is afraid of giving his family ammunition, I'd respect that view. You can have many details you want at the wedding itself without listening to two months + of complaints about your invitations, you know?

To clarify: I'm not against a B-list, I'm against the obvious techniques that make guests feel lesser. Both of the b-list situations I've been in could have been easily avoided.

I said "shady" though I didn't mean the part about "I can't believe you would think of doing this." :) I can totally see the temptation to do it, but I feel like there are better ways than kind of flat-out lying to folks. We might do the two rounds of invites since we have all of our really close friends and family coming from way way out of town, and our friends in town are mostly a lot more casual (we haven't lived here that long). That way, the two rounds actually makes sense, since the OOT folks would need their invites sooner anyway. (Nevermind that they're all receiving STDs anyway).
