Do you have a contract? If not, you don't have much leverage as the delivery is open ended. This is a common problem when using "friendors."

Your best bet is to call them up (don't do it in an email) and ask when they will be ready. Do you have an idea of how many images there are? Just curious how much this cost?

Oh, I forgot about this post. So I definitely did a boudoir shoot in january. It was amazing. So much fun, huge confidence booster, and literally my fiance LOVED them. (He just got them for Valentine's Day) PLEASE in addition to Jennifer Woodbery, Check out Whitney at Caught You On Camera. I decided not to use family which in the end would have been okay but I was just too nervous. Whit did an excellent job and I could not be more please. I'm pretty sure she is doing a blog post about them tomorrow if anyone is interested in checking out her work.

http://caughtyouoncamera.blogspot.com/

some sneek peaks are also up on her facebook page. literally the woman did a great job and made me look and feel like a Victoria's Secret model. :)

I'm not sure if your fiance's friend is a professional, or just someone starting out... but it's very important from the photographer's perspective to establish expectations and more specifically delivery timelines before any shoot happens. We always give our clients a projected time frame that the engagement photos will be available by, and typically ask if there is a deadline that we need to know about. An engagement edit takes a lot less time to do than a wedding, so 1-2 weeks is about average.

Thanks, everyone! I am SO anxious to get the save the dates done, even though I know I have a lot of time. I just have a feeling it will take me at least 2 weeks to decide on the save the dates, order them and address all of them.

Nice to meet you too, date twin! You're right, gemstone - it is more of a casual relationship we have than business so I don't want to change that. I think I'll give her a day or two more before contacting her, but I definitely will have to if we don't receive the pics or hear from her by the end of the week. Thanks for the kind input, everyone =)

Can you just send her a quick, friendly email asking for an update? Not jumping down the throat kind but, "Hey! Just looking for an update on our e-pics as we'd like to get our STD's out soon! Let us know!" and then go from there...

Welcome to Weddingbee!

We actually got our photos back earlier than expected. But if you've paid and they're past due, you can definitely contact the friend who took them. It sounds like it's a bit more of a casual relationship vs business relationship (am I right there?), but that doesn't mean you're not entitled to what you paid for.

And if it helps, you have PLENTY of time to get your save-the-dates out, so try not to panic yet. :)

Friend or no friend, you need to approach her about the pictures. Do it professionally, of course, and try not to sound pushy! Maybe something like "Hey, Sue! I imagine things have been busy for you lately! FI and I are very excited to see our engagement photos you took on (date). I had it marked on my calendar that you said we'd get them back last Wednesday, and I was just wondering if there is any progress or if you could let me know when we'll be receiving them. We're really anxious to get our save the dates going and want to include some of your photography on them! Thanks again!"

I think you should ask her now... If she wasn't a friend, you would have bugged her about it already, I'm betting! As a vendor, she should have gotten your pictures to you whsaid he said she was going to. I would have FI talk to her, but if he won't I would talk to her yourself!

@kwill2012: Welcome date twin! I'm not doing an engagement session so I can't help you out in that department, but I am also way behind on save the dates! Are you expecting a lot of OOT guests? I am expecting around 20ish OOT guests so I just made sure that they knew the wedding date so they aren't blindsided with the STD. Don't panic yet! But I think that you should ask the photographer about the pictures again, but wait a couple weeks.
