<description>&#60;p&#62;I believe you are still supposed to give the officiant something - in other words, cash - for his services.&#38;nbsp; I would just go ahead and ask the officiant, or perhaps the church secretary, what the usual donation is.&#38;nbsp;We asked our pastor's wife - she indicated he generally receives about $150, although some people give more.&#38;nbsp; They are also elderly, and she indicated that they prefer not to receive more, as it becomes a problem with their taxes and their social security.&#38;nbsp; So we will probably also get them a gift certificate to a nice restaurant, as he has spent a lot of time with us, and we really like them both.

<description>&#60;p&#62;We're having a church wedding, and the church charges $2,000 for the wedding service. Are we still supposed to give the officiant something? A gift? Cash? What would be appropriate? Our officiant is elderly and we do not know him well, if that helps any.
