I have a long dress and bought come gorgeous blue Manolos (not the SATC ones) and you can see them just peeking out when i walk. That said there are of course super fabulous short or tea length dresses too that I love. Buy whatever you feel good in and whatever you feel most like a bride in!! I have done this a few times and it has worked wonderfully. If they are good at what they do, they will know how much to take off without ruining the look of the shoe or the comfort of the shoe. They may not be able to take off an inch or anything, but trust me, it WILL make a difference! Great tip, LDB!!  I will definitely invest in some of that tape, no need to be worrying about comfort AND straps falling down! I'm also considering a long dress as well.. but I just have this vision of me walking down the aisle and BAM! there are my gorgeous shoes!  Is it sad I'm more excited about the shoes than the dress?  My priorities are a little mixed up <img src="/my-plugins/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/icon_razz.gif" />  But long is definitely still a possibility.  I won't know until I start going to try dresses on, which won't happen for a few more months. Congrats on the purchase... I saw those while I was shopping. I also say wear whatever dress length you want.. no need to HAVE to get tea length over long... You'll definitely wear those shoes again. Only suggestion: If you are not a big high heel wearer, you are probably  also not a big SLINGBACK high heel wearer. The only reason I didn't get slingbacks for my wedding is that the straps never stay up on my heel. It could just be my foot but get yourself some strong boob tape or double sideded fashion tape and tape the inside of the strap so that it never falls off your heel. (You can always have a back up pair of shoes at the reception if your feet are hurting a lot.) meggyg8r on "wedding shoe help!!!" http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/wedding-shoe-help#post-63678 Mon, 30 Jun 2008 14:17:25 +0000 meggyg8r 63678@http://boards.weddingbee.com/ OKAY.  So I just splurged and bought the most beautiful Louboutins I have ever seen in my life for my wedding.  They are stunning--trust me, this picture doesn't do them justice.  They are adorned with Swarovski crystals that sparkle beautifully in the light, in fact they almost look like diamonds.  I wish I could convey how gorgeous these are.  The pictures below seriously do not do them justice. <img src="http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/86/F2/CE/i86F2CE07-92A9-4C05-84DA-9D8BF8F2722D.jpg" /> <img src="http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/8D/E7/1C/i8DE71CBB-88B7-43B4-B152-13D75DDBE315.jpg" />  So here is my problem.  I'm not really a "heel" girl.  I will wear them for formal events, sometimes when FH and I go out for a nice dinner, and rarely other times.  These Louboutins I bought have about a 3" heel and are actually quite comfortable.  My problem is, is that I am worried about them getting uncomfortable as the time at the reception goes on.  Am I better off taking the most stunning article of clothing I have ever owned back and opting for flats?  Or do I say "what the hell, it's my wedding day!" and keep them?  Cost is not an issue in this matter.  If I take these back, I will replace them with a different style of Louboutins, in flats. A note--if I do keep them, I am getting a tea length wedding dress so the world can see them.  If I take them back and get flats, I will probably end up with a floor length dress.  So being able to see them under a wedding dress is not an issue either!
