I certainly don't care what colors my bridesmaids nails are... one of them told me she'll make sure her nails look clean for the wedding day! Oy....

I'm giving them all a $20 gift certificate for a manicure on the day of the wedding. I'm going to trust that any nail tech who's doing the nails of a bridesmaid will know to advise them to choose a neutral color! I'm of the school of thought that they can make their own decisions about shoes, hair and nails (even their dress), and I'll just instruct the photographer not to take pics of any of these things if it's fugly. =)

Honestly, I never thought of not having them get their nails done. I've gotten my nails done with each of my bm's throughout the years we've known eachother -- little spa days for just the girls. My bm's asked me where we were all getting our nails done before the rehearsal dinner. I didn't know, so three of us (one of my bm's is out of state and another lives two hours away) went to Westwood to look for a nail salon. Once we found one we weren't sure what color -- so I did french, one did an OPI pink and the other did OPI "Helen of Troy". Afterwards we all compared by putting our fingers and toes next to the the bridesmaid dress color swatch -- and boom "Helen of Troy" was the color!

A wedding I was in last June, the bride gave us each a $20 gift certificate to get our nails and toes done. We all did it together the day before. And then we took care of tip and if we wanted a french manicure or something, we paid the extra. It was very fun! I guess I just assume to get something neutral when I'm a bridesmaid. But some people don't. I was in another wedding a week and a half ago, and one of the bridesmaids had red nails.. eek! The bride was wearing red shoes, so she thought it was acceptable... eh, not to me, but I guess it's a personal preference. I would just say to your bridesmaids in an email or something, "just going over some details, I don't know if anyone is planning on getting their nails done, but if you are, it would be awesome if you could do something neutral, no red, blue, black, etc..." Just make it silly. If you don't make it a big deal, hopefully they won't either

I didn't even think of it! But my girls were not the type to have bright polish, if any. I guess my preference would be that they didn't wear anything that would stand out, but I would have a hard time imposing that (and really, who cares?!)

If it is something you think will really bother you in pictures, you could ask them what they're planning to do (most likely, they will ask you what you want) and you can let them know.

I was a bridesmaid once and was told "There is no need to have your nails done, but if you do, will you please get a french manicure?" I was not offended in the least (but I happen to like a french manicure.) I think if you phrase it that way it does not require them to spend extra money. That is of course if you are ok with nothing on their nails.

I am really surprised so many brides care about the nails of the wedding party. I always thought requesting BMs to wear certain shoes or hair styles was too much, let alone fingers and toes. It just seems like such a tiny detail that may be more trouble than it is worth.

I bought all of mine a manicure kit with OPI polish in "Helen of Troy" and the OPI top coat. We are going to the nail salon the afternoon of the rehearsal dinner to get our nails done, and the kit is for the manicurists to use and for touch ups later! OPI is the BEST nailpolish ever!

If you want them to wear (or not wear a certain color), you should buy the polish for them. Seems easy enough. Make it part of their gift.

I'm not going to put any restrictions on them for nails. I don't think people will see them in photos. Now, for my my nails, I have no idea. I think I want to do gel or acrylics, neither of which I've done before. Advice? My sister doesn't want me to have "stripper nails" either. :)

as long as the colors aren't really out there (green, blue, yellow, etc.) it shouldn't be that noticeable. i'm definitely a pedicure girl, but am too rough on my nails to maintain polish on my fingernails. for our group, i'm paying for mani/pedis the day before, but am leaving it up the ladies if they want polish or not (hands or feet). I'm not having polish on the hands - just want the nails to look nice. :)

if your ladies are having different hair, shoes, and makeup anyway, any difference in nails most likely won't make a huge difference.

When we all went to get our nails done, they asked ME if I wanted them to have a certain color. I certainly didn't care but just sort of said no green or blue. One chose to get a French manicure/pedicure. The other chose a very pretty shade of pink for her fingernails and another nice shade for her toes.

Good point, and I am allowing them to be who there in every other aspect, their makeup choice, their hair can be anyway they want...shoes the same choices for them...things like that. I like that they are individuals and want them to be seen as such even though they are waeraking the same dresses....

Maybe I'll jsut ask for no blood red....lol. Pinkand red...no matchy so much ;-)

I don't think anyone will notice the ladies' nails. Certainly their nails will be too tiny in group shots to matter. I say leave it up to them (why not allow them to show this teeny tiny amount of who they are?)

So, are you asking your maids to have "mathing" nails. Either that they all have them done (french manicure) or that they be with or with out polish?

I'm considering buying them all the same color polish for their toes -but I don't want to ask of them to have a manicure because it's spendy and they are already doing so much....but I know that at least 2 of my maids like really dark colored polish and it will NOT look right with the colors for the wedding. I'm afraid it will be an eye sore in the photos...one maid with blood red nails and the rest with nothing.....

Also, if one wnats to paint her nails with the toe polish and others don't....I think I'm looking for conformity in this one aspect and don't know how to approch it or even what I want them to really do...I'm not a nail polish girl....painted toes - ok I do that, nails....no to much for me.

Am I over thinking, or what? LOL.
