Ask the groom 20 or so questions. At the bridal shower ask the bride "What did M. Wonderful say when asked ....." See how well she knows her husband to be! This is a great game for all ages.

For the Bachelorette Party, invite the girls only over for dinner and movies. If you want, you can write "Bring your favorite bottle of wine" on the invites.

Good Luck!

For my bachelorette party my maid of honor hosted a "Fun Party" or some might know it as a "Sugar and Spice" party. although for some it might be a little to risque, but honestly they are a ton of fun. For Girls Only is one of the main names around my area. I suggest calling it up and then everyone who attends to help the bride stock up on supplies needed for the honeymoon ;)

For my sister's bridal shower, we had several non-scandalous activites. For example, we had a game where we gave out stacks of magazines. we asked everyone to create a collage of what they think her wedding would look like (based on invitations, what she's said etc). the winner was the one whose collage was the closest.

We also did a version of pin the tail on the donkey, but we used a bride and several accessories. We cut out things like a bouquet, veil, necklace etc. and had the blindfolded person try to stick them on a cut out of a bride. It was really fun especially after seeing ppl stick things on the wall, put the bouquet on the bride's face etc.

there's always the toilet paper dress which is always fun!

I just saw this article about Bridal Shower games on Real Simple's website:

http://www.realsimple.com/realsimple/gallery/0,21863,1734155,00.html?xid=weeklynews

I'm not sure that their suggestions for shower ideas would be popular with older folks, but perhaps the bridge & poker tourney???

oh, also, for my bachlorette party we went to one of those paint your own pottery places, then went to dinner afterwards at a nice italian restaurant. (we got engaged in italy, so my girls thought it fit!) i looove to craft, so it fit, and the only time we had for my bachlorette was four days before the wedding, so it was also a great way to relax.

we did a game at my shower that i was pretty fond of... my MIL had a big bowl of rice, and hid 25 of those little metal fake wedding rings (like the kind sold in the bridal aisle at joann's) in the rice. we each had a minute to stick our hands in and pull out as many rings as possible. it was HARD!! :) amazingly, you couldn't feel the rings with all the rice! we all enjoyed it though, especially cause we're all pretty competitive. :)

At my shower, there was a really wide range of ages (ladies from 11 to 80), and everyone got really into the games!

The first game was a memory game. My FMIL put all this strange stuff in a room, then took everyone into another room and had them write down what they could remember.

There was also a trivia game about my FI and I asking questions like what our favorite restaurant is, what our dog's name is, and where my FI got my e-ring. You could probably do this same thing for the bachelorette but make the questions a little more risque, if you want!

For the last game, she had me leave the room and everyone had to draw a picture of our ideal honeymoon destination if we had an unlimited amount of time and money. When I came back in, I had to go through all of the pictures and pick out my top 5 places (without knowing who drew them, of course!).

She also had a modified cutthroat pollyanna of sorts for favors (everyone picked a number out of a hat, and they each went in that order to pick a gift).

Hope this helps!

Does she enjoy cooking or need to learn how to cook? Maybe bring someone in to show you how to make things/make dinner for all of you. That could be fun!

For my bridal shower the only game we played was appropriate for all ages. Everyone was given a 3x5 card and asked to write some words of wisdom for the bride. No names were put on the cards. My matron of honor then collected them, mixed them up and read them out loud. I had to guess who wrote each one. My guests ranged from 18 to 87 and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

In regards to the bachelorette, I'm with the other ladies, a spa day is always nice. You can also do things like a bath junkie party (if you have one in your area) or dinner with a movie marathon sleep over, or something crafty as many of the other ladies mentioned (pottery, scrapbooking, cooking with a recipe exchange).

Amusement park just for the girls??? or take a night time limo tour of your city and then dinner?? or Go rafting/tubing if your area has water???? Think outside the box!! Even going to one of those make your own pottery places could be fun with a bunch of girlfriends.

There is always the old fashioned saftey pin game -- you give each guest a safety pin with a second safety pin hanging from it. You tell them that if they see anyone crossing their legs or ankles you can take their second pin away and attach it to their own. At the end the girl with the most pins wins. Ladies that don't care about winning and want to cross their legs will give up their pin quickly so they can cross their legs.

For games, there's bridal bingo (everyone fills in on a bingo board gifts they think the bride will get and then cross them off as she opens gifts), trivia (ask True/False questions about the bride and/or groom), purse power (where you accumulate points for items you have in your purse- ie photos, keys, cell phone, nail file, etc.- more unusual items are worth more), and I'm sure lots more that would be OK for an older crowd.

For the bachelorette, I think the spa is a good idea. Some spas have a flat fee for you to get in and use the facilities- that way all the ladies can hang out together in the pool, sauna, etc. when not getting treatments.

The slumber party could also be fun- make-up and nails, popcorn, chick flicks, cute matching PJs...

Another idea may be to do something related to a hobby your sister might have- like scrapbooking, pottery, knitting or something. Get an expert to come (or even a person that sells stuff) and help you all through a project. Or something like paint your own pottery, a cooking class, etc.

What about a concert or a show? Comedy club?
