I think it's a great idea! If you have a lot of out-of-town guests, they might not be getting in until that day and would probably welcome the chance to relax at a more casual party than get dressed up and sit at a restaurant for hours after traveling all day. Even if you don't have a lot of out-of-town guests, it's still a great way to relax with your loved ones before the chaos of The Big Day.

We did it and we loved it. Very chill and fun and relaxing -- and if your out-of-town guests are arriving throughout the day/night they can just show up when they get in and not worry about missing out on dinner.

Heck no I think it sounds like fun! I'm doing a BBQ for mine, in the back yard and all!!

Things are only acceptable if they meet your standards! If you were having a stuffing, yuppity wedding - then maybe the pizza and beer thing would be a no-no, but bring it on. I can't wait to hear about how well it went!

Oh my! I cannot believe the overwhelmingly great responses to this! I feel so much better about it. Thank you! I am planning to do the pizza and beer at the wedding location just after the actual rehearsal. We live what some would consider a smaller town (180,000) but the wedding is taking place in an actual small town with a population of about 300! This is where I grew up. As you can imagine - not a lot going on there. I wanted to get everyone at the location, have the rehearsal, have some pizza and beer and enjoy themselves! Thanks again, I am thrilled!

I will have to let you know after my wedding later this month! :) We are having a prewedding pizza dinner/open house (at my home -- at least if I can not stress over the house and such)! We too wanted something casual, and everyone seems relieved . . . so I am hoping it turns out fine. It is what my fiance wants, for sure!

Good luck to you!

I really wanted to do something similar, but with hot dogs in the park where we are getting married. Unfortunately, Puff Daddy didn't think it was nice enough for the out-of-town guests. He thought they should be treated to a nicer dinner. That being said, I didn't agree with him!

I think it is great to have a casual rehearsal dinner. Everyone loves to relax and I think with the right music and some candles around the place it would be very nice. I was thinking of having a barbecue, but we would need to get a new grill first.

Totally fine. We're doing a casual clambake because we figure the wedding will be more formal and we want people to relax and get to know eachother! If you're worried about being too casual, go for some pizza with gourmet toppings and use real plates or nice plastic. A nice salad and voila! Traditional American comfort food is SO in right now. It sounds perfect.

I think it would be O.K. if you kept it high energy and gave it the right environment-like the suggestion above about making it a backyard BBQ.

I love this idea too but make sure people know how casual it is, no one likes to be over dressed especially with lots of greasy goodness around to stain.

Where are you planning on having it?
