Depending on what your looking for, there is a designer boutique above La Fourno on south street that sells gowns from Vera Wang, Monique LLuililer and more. It's in the same office as Caroline Verdi. Sizes are in the small range because they are samples, but cheap!

Thanks everyone! I lust after some of the gowns at Danielle's, but it's way out of my price range. I'll definitely check out some of the recommendations here, I'm starting to get very excited!

Just wanted to add that the names of the shops in MissTeaberry's message are Maria Romia (on Walnut and 21st) and Danielle's Bridal (on 13th). Maria Romia does mostly custom gowns, but she has a long rack of dresses to look at, too, so you can see what's available. I popped into Danielle's once to look at their shoes and their salesperson was kind of rude....

In Center City, there is a dress shop on 13th between Walnut and Locust and one on either Chestnut or Walnut up around 18th St. I think if you are looking anywhere in Center City, though, it is going to be expensive. I heard bad reviews about places in CC being too snobby and stuck up if you aren't a millionaire! I always recommend Alfred Angelo for good prices. The closest Alfred Angelo boutique is in Lancaster. The prices are really low because you aren't paying the bridal store's fees since it is straight from the designer to you - no middle-man. Good luck!! :)

Ooh, tax-free. Nice.

Try Sabrina Ann in Ardmore. It's a consignment shop with really beautiful dresses. You need to make an appointment b/c there are only two dressing rooms. I didn't get my dress there, but I did try on dresses there. I was impressed by the selection and by Sabrina Ann herself. She is very knowledgeable.

I went to Jennifer's Bridal in Hockessin, DE. They were so nice, had a great selection in all price ranges, and best of all -- it's tax-free!

Go to the Wedding Touch in Frazer, on route 30. I got my dress there for under $1000 and they have been a pleasure to deal with so far. (And I LOVE my dress!!!!) They also have a lot of evening hours which makes it really easy for fittings and whatnot.

I would check out La Bella Moda in Conshohocken. I didn't buy my dress there, but I had a real pleasent experience there. They also sell their samples right on the spot if they are your size which means total mark down!

My mother and aunt are coming in a few weeks to look at dresses with me, and I have no idea where to go. I live in Center City but can travel anywhere within a reasonable distance. I'm looking for something ~$1000 (or less) and I know most of the shops near me are higher-end.

I'm planning to make an appointment at the Sample Rack, but I'm torn about where else to go. So many salons have really terrible reviews, and I want this to be a happy experience! Thanks in advance for any recommendations :)
