LandonsBride on "Write own ceremony?" http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/write-own-ceremony#post-69557 Sat, 19 Jul 2008 11:32:55 +0000 LandonsBride 69557@http://boards.weddingbee.com/ I wrote our ceremony - it was amazing.  It was even more special than just writing vows because the entire thing was "ours".  I can't even count how many comments we have had - and I can't count how many people in the crowd said they were touched by the ceremony.  It meant a lot.  I used "How to Have an Elegant Wedding for $5000 (or Less) ..." as an example for a civil ceremony.  Also, a judge married us and he had a bunch of past ceremonies he had done that I used as examples.  Maybe someone like that can help you.  I know there are several "vows" books at Barnes and Noble - and they can be helpful (although I wouldn't buy it, just get an idea at B&N) and I found one ceremony book there, but never saw it again.  Anyway -- good luck, it's an amazing experience knowing that you had a part in everything.  And SO much more special!! dreambml on "Write own ceremony?" http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/write-own-ceremony#post-69546 Sat, 19 Jul 2008 10:25:50 +0000 dreambml 69546@http://boards.weddingbee.com/ yeah, just google all the sections you need.  We were in the same predicament - no religion, and his dad also got an offician for the day pass, so he'd never done this before either.  We used the hands ceremony, mothers rose ceremony, I found the ring exchange in one of those wedding planning books, and all the other stuff you make up.  For our vows, we actually read this poem by Dorothy R. It's from the second season, episode 7 where Miranda's friend marries her decorator and they ask Carrie to write a poem for them. Carrie gets all emotional and cries while reading it because of Big's inability to commit. No religion in it at all. We are both Catholic but decided we wanted a slightly less religious ceremony. This book is great because it has the entire spectrum from non-religious to very religious. I think that Miss Cream Puff used it too. I got it for $16.95 from Barnes and Noble. I recommend it 100%!!! <img src="/my-plugins/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/icon_biggrin.gif" /> Joanne on "Write own ceremony?" http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/write-own-ceremony#post-69534 Sat, 19 Jul 2008 09:31:46 +0000 Joanne 69534@http://boards.weddingbee.com/ yeah we created our own ceremony since my friend married us.  just do a search online for it. there are so many ideas you can include in your ceremony.  it just depends on what you want. my hubby and i kept it real simple since we had an outdoor public ceremony in the park where we were not allowed to have chairs.  this was what we did...  Processional, Words of Welcome, Reading, Exchange of Vows and Rings, Pronouncement of Marriage, and Recessional  There are other things you can do....sand ceremony, rose ceremony, candle ceremony....the gingerbreads are doing a ring warming ceremony.... also, there are a lot of different things the officiant can say too when you're exchanging rings.....my officiant just did the traditional....repeat after me thing. "in sickness and in health...etc" however, after our reading, he talked for a few minutes about his relationship with me and his thoughts on marriage...it was very personal...and i loved it.....i didn't know he was going to say that....i just gave him the order of what I wanted for the ceremony and he ran with it. i didn't want to know exactly what he was going to say because i wanted to experience for the first time myself.... sonrisa2134 on "Write own ceremony?" http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/write-own-ceremony#post-69528 Sat, 19 Jul 2008 09:06:46 +0000 sonrisa2134 69528@http://boards.weddingbee.com/ We are planning on having a friend of ours conduct our ceremony.
