I had two (out of an even 100) not make it - one finally showed up after almost three weeks MIA. The other - who knows? (I honestly think it probably got there and was misplaced - it is a friend who travels a lot, and often has other friends pick up and forward her mail.) When you think about how many letters the USPS delivers it would actually be surprising if they didn't lose or misdeliver a few every now and then.

I had one person not receive hers - who angrily called my mom to ask why she was the only one of her 6 siblings not to be invited - yikes! All the others showed up and the one we re-sent to her (after apologizing profusely, etc) arrived safe and sound a few days later. It's over a year later now, and neither one of us ever got the original invite. So I think it just happens sometimes!

Don't stress, give them a call and fix it.

In some cases tho...people lose the invitation and they don't wanna admit it. It happens.

I had a few that did not reach their intended recipients but it was because they were friends still living in the dorms at UCLA and who knows what happened? I think we shared mailboxes with other people and you have to trust the front desk to sort it out properly, etc... these things happen though.

I'd just say call them, tell them you're sorry and you don't know what happened, but you don't have any invites left, and then just tell them they'll be getting an rsvp pack and to let you know when and if that gets there!

thanks ladies!

yeah, I was REALLY LATE at getting my invites out. Try --- 2 weeks ago! ACK!

BUT.... everyone got a Save the Date.... which is why it's weird that a couple people haven't received them as it's the same address the stdc went to and they recieved that.

oh well. the thing is, my invites are pretty elaborate and i don't want to send more out, only have a few extras left. what's the best way to handle this?

We are sending out rsvp packs to people who are coming ---- i know they are coming as one of them is a friend doing my hair. should i just send her the rsvp pack instead?

I had one of of 127 not get there - but the person who didn't receive it is kind of flaky and would be the kind of person who would get it and not remember. :) But I have heard of things like this - and actually I've had five or six people tell me that they sent their RSVP postcards back and I never got them. It sucks, but it does happen!

And glittergrl, your wedding is in two weeks! I hope the people knew about the wedding before you called them to see if they're coming! :)

glittergrl, these things happen all the time. in fact, i'm still waiting on a wedding invite from 3 years ago! the knew they sent it [it was on top of their stack] and were shocked that i never got it...and didn't know until i called asking about it.

like with anything, mistakes happen. letters get lost in the mail all the time, even when you have all the correct information. if you can, you can always hand deliver new ones or just check with the guest of the missing invites for their rsvps. good luck!

glittergrl, this happened to us (3 or 4 of ~170 invitations). I never figured out why, just was glad I ordered a few extras. I had triple checked and had my then-fiance and mom look over all the addresses to make sure they were right, but I suppose some still could've slipped through the cracks.

I panicked a little because I was afraid that there were some people who didn't get theirs and I would have no way of knowing, but as the RSVPs rolled in it wound up being fine. Good luck!

That is strange -- when I mailed mine I brought them to the postoffice on a Saturday -- by Monday all of the local guests had theirs, and all the other were received by Friday. The overseas invites took a little longer, but all were received. I've never had problems with the USPS except when I made a mistake on postage or labeling.

nope, all of it was right on, i handed them to the postal woman and she said it was great. the addresses were done through a printer so no issues with legibility.

my planner just said it's the way of the usps.... she said guests will get the invites months from now or ill get them back months from now.

very frustrating considering the $$ and labor sunk in them.

Postage problems? Were they of an unusual size/shape/thickness? Hard-to-read ink color or calligraphy style?

That's all I can think of, but you'd think they'd get returned to sender in those cases. S orry I can't help more =/

I've had a couple guests and vendors tell me they never received their invitations even though the address I had for them was correct.

Anyone else have this issue? Does the postal service just suck donkey balls or what? Do people 'steal' invites? Help me understand!
