Thank you all for your very helpful comments. It seems like the clear favorite is #1.

Also, yes, I was concerned about the church not allowing me to wear a strapless dress, but as long as the bride has a veil over the face, the church is okay with the strapless b/c the veil technically covers the shoulders. I'll be wearing a floor-length veil.

I'm in such a quandary about the dress. I'm in love in love in love with #1 (and trust me, I've tried on countless dresses, and this is the only one that I LOVED), but I'm very concerned about the risks involved in turning it into a strapless - what if the seamstress ruins it, etc.? I know it looks great as a halter on the model, but I manipulated it to be a strapless when I tried it on, and it looked much better as a strapless on me.

I honestly think #2 is more flattering to my figure, for whatever reason, but I couldn't "really" tell b/c #1's sample was too big for me. The silk underlay of #1 is a bit more fluid, and thus less body-hugging than #2.

So the question is - do you pick the dress that is more beautiful but could be a bit less flattering or the dress that you know is flattering on your body and less beautiful (but still beautiful). I hope that makes sense.

I love #1 but I don't think I would like it nearly as much if it was strapless.

Have you checked dress code with your church? In some instances they won't let you wear strapless unless you cover up...a shall or bolero.

I like #1 better, but I usually am drawn toward sashes at the empire level rather than at the natural waist (it looks better on me). Do you like them both equally on your body?

I voted for dress #2 the last two rounds but I really like dress #1! The lace is so pretty and delicate. With the added fabric in the bust area I wouldn't worry about it being to showy for a Catholic wedding. Good luck!

How are either of those ok for a Catholic ceremony? I was under the impression that you had to be a little move covered up? #1 is a bit bare for my taste, so I think I'd go with #2. I would ask to see pictures of the alterations they did to #1 before you order it if that's what you choose, because it doesn't sound like something you could do without major work and I think you would be able to tell. Isn't there another dress you like that looks like that and is strapless...

I am a fan of #2. I think it would be very elegant for the catholic wedding that you are going for. #1 is nice also but I think that with all the extra work you have to do to it may not be worth it since you can get #2 without any extra alterations.

Either way they are both gorgeous! Good luck!

wow I love them both, (although I would leave #1 just the way it is). I know that's not much advice. My only comment is that the lace in #1 looks softer and thus higher quality, (but that might simply be the way it translates in the picture).

Yup, my mom and sis are going with me when they visit in 3 weeks. My mom is more traditional, but I think she will go for #1, though I really have no idea! I do want mom advice, but I also love to hear from the hive since you all have such great comments/advice!

I think #1 is classy with a modern twist to it...but which one do you feel better in? It may end up boiling down to what is more comfortable. What does your mom say? When I'm torn I always talk about it with my mom :)

Thanks for the comments so far! I've tried both on. The sample for the first was a bit big, so I wasn't able to see exactly how it'd look on me if it was my size, but I thought it looked nice. #2's sample was my size, and I thought it looked great and was very slimming.

As for #1, I know it's hard to tell in the picture, but it's not difficult to make this dress strapless b/c the back isn't too low. They'd add an extra piece of fabric (from the designer) in the middle of the bust so it wouldn't be too cleavage-bearing, and then add cups. My bridal salon told me that they did this for another bride.

I personally like #1 more, but think #2 might be more "classy" and traditional. Thus, I'm torn.

how would you make #1 strapless?! I really love number one, but with how low the backing goes...I just don't see how you'd make it strapless.

Beehive - this is the third round of my asking your wisdom on what dress I should have for a Catholic wedding, followed by a black tie optional reception.

#1 (which I would make strapless)

http://imagesforum.doctissimo.fr/mesimages/1094822/agadir.jpg

or

#2 (I won't be wearing the bolero)
