Hey...I'm a first-timer, but my FI has been divorced for 6ish years? Like most of your encore guys he's totally into the process, especially because I'm pretty low-key and practical about everything. It was a little scary thinking that he had done this before, but I don't think he put an ounce of energy into the first wedding (it was on the opposite coast). I'm making sure to get his input as much as possible - makes us both feel good : )

I'm an encore bride-to-be in waiting. Hoping for the left hand ring on Xmas or NYE. I have three children from my first marriage that lasted 6 years. Mr. Snuggies has also been married before (it lasted less than a year. They were just too young).

Hello there! I'm 35 and FI is 38, we're getting married in 10 days!!! I married the first time when I was 23, divorced at 24 with no kids thank goodness. So for 11 years it was just me and a lot of horrible dating experiences and relationships that went nowhere.

FI was married at 36 and divorced 3 months later. They had been together for 10 years though.

He and I had been just friends for 1.5 years at that point. About three months after his dirvorce we could not deny the feelings we had. Even as friends we knew there was something there but never acted on it. When we finally did it was like fireworks for both of us and we just knew this was it.

We moved into together this past March, got engaged on Halloween and now we're getting married on New Year's Eve. It's been a fast 1.5 years of being together but this is definitely "the one" this time.

Welcome!

@Ittybittywitty: Welcome! This place is amazing. You'll feel very welcomed here btw. This is a fun board and it's also an amazing place for inspiration too.

@pennydreadful: I'm 40 also! I think it's important to have a ceremony b/c the kids involved need to witness this coming together of the two families and it's a way for the kids to feel that something different has just happened..there has been a marriage and a new family unit created.

Congratulations to all brides here and those who are encores and brides who have encore grooms too!

Ahhhh...my people I have found you at last :-)

I am an encore bride. Was married first time at 26 had son at 27 got divorce at 28.

I am now 40, and getting married for the second time (though this is my first actual wedding, eloped the first time) I have a 13 year old son from my first marriage and a two year old with my FI.

We are getting married in September 2010.

I decided a definately wanted an actual wedding this time around, because the first time I dont think I took "getting married" seriously enough. (Meaning it was a Wednesday, we went to JP, then to Bennigans, returned to work next day "Hey I'm married!") Plus darn it I want to wear a pretty dress and get pictures and have a celebration

We're getting married in a big old converted barn that overlooks the mountains and a lake.

I may be a little late to this board, but I'm an encore bride and FI is an encore groom!

We both got married young the first time, I was 18 and he married his high school girlfriend at 25. We got divorced around the same time, about 5 years ago. FI has 2 kids (13 & 8) from his marriage and I have a 6 year-old son. We have been engaged for 2 years now, and our wedding is planned for July 2010. I never expected to be a step-mom, but now I really can't imagine life without the 5 of us as a family!

Anyway, I'm new to the 'Bee, but i'm hooked, and I'm so glad that I found the Encore board. I don't have any friends that can really relate to this whole "encore" bride and "blended family" stuff, so I look forward to getting to know you guys!

I don't know why I posted here already

I am not an encore bride but my FI is an encore groom. He was divorced about 17 years ago now. He is 41 (will be 42 on Christmas Eve) has 2 sons, ages 24 and 19. I am 34, never been married, and I have a 12 year old daughter.

I never wanted kids and marriage and my FI certainly didn't want another wife and he was content with his son. Then we found each other and after 3 years, we will be getting married in 22 days in Jamaica.

The FI planned the whole thing so I have no clue about any of the arrangements but I know it's going to be FABULOUS

@Offbeat bride. I love your tattoo! My daughter (3 year old) would go NUTS for that. She's so into My Little Pony right now. :)

My FI and I are also waiting until 2011 to get married because we're hosting it ourselves. It's wonderful to have so much time to figure stuff out and equally awful that we have so much time! We keep changing our minds about things and it's so hard to be obsessive for two years!!
