how about going out this week to see the place - get a sense of how cold you feel there. it'll be a little warmer at the beginning of oct than beg of nov but likely not a huge difference.

i personally would prefer an indoor location for oct since i hate the cold. if you / your guests are from colder parts of the world / country, it might still be fine.

Thanks ladies! That's a great list to keep my head in order.

My sister is making all dresses, so I can make sure they are of heavier weight, or have shawls, jackets, or other means to keep them warm. The beach will be open because that section of the beach is owned by the club and I can be sure of cleanliness by their staff (thank goodness for the cheaper rental due to his family membership!!)

I will DEFINITELY have a talk with the place to see what the official inclement weather plan is. Hopefully the whole thing can just move inside to the dining hall, but I will see what their usual plan is. I think there are tents available from the in-house caterers and cost will definitely have to be a consideration. I think once I go through the lovely suggestions from Prestigious Occasions, I'll feel much more comfortable with the idea and go on to sunnier feelings of a lovely fall wedding by the water. :)

There are a few things to think about:

What time of day is your ceremony? The temperature also plays a huge part of this (warmer in the afternoon).

Inclement weather plan for outdoors, I don’t want to stress you out but other than rain.

You can have a beach wedding and have a tent large enough for your guests, if need you can also rent heaters.

Keep in mind that these rentals add up very quickly.

The beach is usually closed during this timeframe, check out how the beach will be cleaned and maintained before you wedding.

Choose a dress that your ladies should not be too cold in and/or purchase a complementing wrap for them to wear during the ceremony as their gift. This is if the dresses do not come with a wrap.

What do they do in case of rain? Is there a tent? I think you could make it work- even if your bridesmaids are a little chilly during pictures.

Hi bees!

I may have made a poor decision here concerning date and location. Understand I've only been engaged fo a week (exactly, even!), so this is all really new to me. So, some background:

My man's parents are members of a small beach club in Atlantic Beach that happens to do weddings in the off-season (after Labor Day through end of May). Before even getting engaged I considered how nice it would be to get married there. Fall is my hubby's favorite season so I looked at some dated in September and October and discovered that 10/10/10 falls on the Sunday of a three day weekend. We checked with the club, and the date is available and they have already pencilled us in! (this additionally means my engagement will be less than a year. EEK!)

Now I am worrying more about the weather. Sure I checked historiccal weather on that date for the past ten years and highs were in the low 70s, lows in the upper 50s. It seems very nice on paper, but I'm concerned about the beach being colder (what is comfortable for a walk on a boardwalk isn't necessarily comfortable for my wedding party in their pretty dresses). Reception is indoors, but ceremony is outside! I've never been to an outdoor wedding in the fall, certainly never one on the beach.

What do you think hive? Am I crazy? Should I try to find an indoor location or may this be just crazy enough to work?
