I went to several bridal shops in the Milwaukee area and loved both the Savvy Bride in Brookfield and Heim's Bridal in Greenfield. I ended up buying my dress from Heims. They gave you the freedom to look on your own and were always right behind me if I found a dress I liked that I wanted to add to my dressing room. The prices are fantastic! If you order the dress it is 30% off, if you buy it off the rack it is 40% off. Plus they had their seamstress there who would give you a rough estimate of what the alterations would be. Overall it was a great experience.

I bought my dress at Brandi's in New Glarus. All of the gals that helped me were great. I bought my dress from Jenny. My dress was available at a couple of different bridal stores, but I bought it from Brandi's because of the overall experience I had. Also, I called many times to ask if certain styles were available for both bridal/bridesmaid dresses and they were more than happy to look for me. It's a bit of a drive from Madison, but I'm happy to do it. Vera's Bridal was ok, but the sales gal was kind of odd and not so helpful. House of Brides in Schaumburg, IL was a joke. Not a good experience. Brandi's is great! Plus if you purchase your dress there, you get 10% off your dress if you buy it that day and 10% off the bridesmaid dresses when you purchase them whenever.

Daughters gown was purchased at Christy's Bridal in Burlington. They are small but very nice. They carry Martina Liana, Essense of Australia, and Ella.

We also had a great visit in Cedarburg at Stone Manor. I would recommend them if that is in your neck of the woods. For us, Christy's was much closer and actually had a sample of the dress she was most hoping to try on and actually purchased.

We have done many a prom dress at Germaines in Lake Geneva and find that since they moved from the second story corner location to their last and current locations, that their service and selection are not worth the trip (which is only 20 minutes for us!)

I got my dress from DB in Green Bay, well, at least I purchased it, in NOVEMBER of LAST year. My dress came in to the store in Feb and it was the WRONG color dress, not to mention that we asked the attendant when I tried it on before ordering it if I should order extra length (I'm 5'10) and she said no it would be long enough....well it wasn't, it was 3 inches too short when I had my 1/2 inch heel flats on! So my dress was reordered the end of Feb, longer and in the RIGHT color, and now its almost April and I just called a few days ago to learn that the dress won't even be in the store until JUNE and my wedding is in SEPT. Glad I ordered my dress so early or I would be in BIG trouble!

See, I got my dress at Amelishan and did not have a bad experience. I went to the sample sale, and I went knowing that they cut the tags out. I could tell what brand because it said so on the hanger straps, but I didn't know what style it was. Google helped. I ended up paying $850 for my $1600 dress, so no complaints from me. It was in GREAT condition for a sample, and the only alteration I needed was a bustle.

I also didn't have a time limit (my friend was kicked out of her dressing room at DB after an hour) and I WAS allowed to take pictures in the dresses. I probably spent two hours trying on dresses! They also helped me pick out veils to go with each dress, and there was no pressure. I left with a dress I loved for a great price.

My friend Renee also got her dress at Amelishan and only has positive things to say about it, too.

I bought my dress form DB in Brookfield. I had a great experience there. We were allowed to look thru the books and then thru the dresses. My consultant was very sweet.

On another note do not go to Amelishan. Those ppl are horrid! They don't allow you to take pics in the dresses you try on, they take the designer tags out of the dresses so you can't see who makes them and then they won't tell you who the designer is until you purchase a gown from them, way above what it should cost.

I went to DB in Appleton and had an okay experience. I ended up going to Bridal Event in Appleton twice and both times they were super helpful, nice, and not pushy at all. I bought my dress during my second trip :)

I also didn't have a pleasurable experience at Edith's Bridal, a
little outdated IMO. I worked with one lady who was nice though, and
customer service is important.

David's Bridals (anywhere) don't work for me, I find that they
discourage you from looking through dresses for yourself, instead, my
attendant went and found dresses that she thought would look good on
me. When I didn't like something she picked out, I always felt bad and
just tried it on anyway..waste of time.

Had some success at Bridal Event in Appleton, very large selection,
sort their dresses out by style and even have a plus size dress wall.

Erika's Bridal Couture in Neenah has amazing customer service. I found
my BM's dresses online and they were the only store that carried it,
so I really had no choice. But it worked out, they are very sweet
people over there.

Bridal Elegance in Kaukauna also has a large selection, but I found
that the attendants seemed to always have 'something else to do...'

hope this helps a little bit ladies!

I have to third the icky Edith's Bridal. Every one told me to try there until my mom (who is photographer in the wedding industry) told me stories how they purposely sew patches in your dress when it gets in. They call you, you try it on, and WOWZA! It doesn't fit... then they bank $$$ on alterations.

There aren't a ton of places around the Fox Valley area. I went to The Bridal Event as well and their dresses were very overpriced for the look and quality of the dress. Over 60% of their dresses were tie-up corset styles and that was the one look I said I would not buy. Not for me.
