I hate taffeta. Friend pulled a lightweight taffeta dress and talked me into trying it on. Fell in love.

I didn't want a strapless dress or a veil. Now I have a strapless dress, 3 veils and a tiara, and one of the veils is cathedral length, you can see it in my profile pic. I absolutly adore it, and can't wait glide through the casino to where our ceremony will be (gondola at the Venetian in Las Vegas). I think after I take off all my veils I might stick the blusher in the back of my hair.

My dress is more formal than I thought it would be... I knew I wanted lace, but it has beading and a pretty big train. I am so in love with it though!

I thought I wanted a cathedral length veil but since I got this dress, I am going with a fingertip length veil so it doesn't look over the top and to show off the detail.

I was so sure I was going to end up with a lace dress, but I didn't.

I was sure I wanted a mermaid Maggie dress... till i realized it was way too heavy. Then I thought I wanted a mermaid lace Pronovias dress but I couldn't get over the scratchiness. I did not want a "big" dress. I ended up with a silk modified mermaid dress with ruching-- I hate ruching but it looks awesome...with a 6 ft train... that is weightless. :-) freaking love it! I did end up with a birdcage veil-- I wanted that all along.

I wasn't sure what style I'd end up with, but imagined something on the plainer side, since I'm not at all a girly girl. But once I got to the shop for my first time trying on dresses, my favorite dress was a strapless A-line gown with a lot of beading a split chiffon overlay. It had a long train and was very princess-esque.

After I tried on many more dresses over 4 more visits, I ended up with a chiffon dress with an empire waist, a band of beading below the bust and a sweep train. They look very different from each other, but I love my dress.

I was sure I wanted white with no beading and ended up with ivory with scattered crystal accents. I have to say though, I ended up with the style I was expecting so it wasn't a total departure.

I really thought I was going to end up up with something super pleated, but not beaded. BUT! I went wedding dress shopping with one of my friends last week and totally LOVED everything she tried on. Everything she tried on was SUPER girly, beaded and chiffon and so over-the-top elaborate. So now I have no idea what I'm going to end up with!

I thought I would wear a v-neck, lacy, sheath or slight A-line (no poof), ivory, minimal to no train (I fell in love with Jenna Bush's dress) and no veil.

The dress I ended up with was strapless, blush, trumpet style, cathedral length train with beading, sequins and lace appliqué and an elbow length veil! Thank goodness I listened to my boss from an internship who used to work at a bridal shop and tried on EVERYTHING!

The ONE thing I thought I knew was that I wanted anything but a strapless gown. And of course, I ended up with a strapless gown that I love. It's so hard to know what you want until you have all the choices laid out for you!
