UPDATE-

Hey Bee's!

It's one week post surgery and everything went great. The husband held on to my wedding rings the entire time and afterward when they woke me up he put the rings back on my finger and jokingly said, "Will you marry me?"

Had I not just been fresh off the funny farm with all of the meds they gave me, I might have cried. Instead, I mumbled a simple, "Uh-huh" and fell asleep in the car. LOL

Thanks for all the input!

I had oral surgery and wore my rings (well e-ring because I wasnt married at the time). I only took of my necklace and earrings because they were close to the surgery area. I had another surgery recently, non-oral, and was told I could keep my rings on and they would just put something over them but my husband was there so I had him hold my rings for me.

Honestly, why would you wear them? I certainly wouldn't be wearing my diamond rings (or any diamond jewelry) for that matter if I was going to be put under and would have no way of knowing if anyone would try to take them.

I think you have to take them off. When I had my sinus surgery, they even made me take my belly button ring out!

I had oral surgery less than a month after our wedding. I left the rings at home, I didn't want to chance anything.

Oh, and just to make you feel better about being scared... I was really nervous, too! But it went so well, I was talking to them while they put the IV in (which hurt a tiny bit) and then all of a sudden they were looking in my face saying "Ok you're done!" I didn't remember one single thing!

Good luck today with the surgery! I wouldn't wear the rings personally. I do have a small Tiffany heart ring that I wear in place of my engagement ring when I don't think it would be smart to wear the diamond. I find that it works out well...I'm still wearing a ring, but its nothing extremely valuable that anyone would be tempted to take!

Don't wear them! Your fingers may swell a little, plus they'll make you take them off as soon as you get there, so leave them home. I've been put under a few times for various things and they ALWAYS make me take my rings off. And all my earrings, too. Metal doesn't belong in an OR. Good luck and I hope you recover quickly!
