Hi Ladies,

I'm new to Weddingbee and I was a little surprised when I came across this thread.

My fiance and I hired Jeff for our wedding day pictures. He was actually recommended by our videographer. Anyway, we emailed back and forth a couple of times and decided to meet up at a nearby coffee place to go over the details and pricing.

Honest first impression...Jeff was very easy going, talks a lot, and...a nerd =). He showed us some recent pictures and both my fiancé and I were blown away. His pictures were gorgeous. We booked him immediately on the spot. This was back in November, 2009.

We just had our engagement session a few days ago and I can only say that it was way beyond our expectations. Originally, I was expecting something very simple or rather, minimal, due to our tight budget (and I need to stress that it’s small budget). I was expecting maybe two hours around home with one or two outfits. But I was totally wrong. Jeff called me twice (and emailed a bunch of times) during the week regarding outfits, time, and location. We ended up with 5 outfits and a whoooolleeee day in Santa Barbara (we live in OC). He arrived about an hour earlier than us so that he can do some location scouting. We shot at the mission, the courthouse, a field, and at the Knapp’s Castle. The view was absolutely breathtaking.

We all had a great time and didn’t get home until midnight. Jeff took more than a thousand pictures and 51 of them were ready (and I mean READY… color corrected, edited, with awesome effects) to be viewed by the next morning at 9 AM. Jeff has also offered to continue with the engagement session in a few days so that we can have some beach shots.

Ladies, I honestly don’t know what to say… I mean, I do understand your frustration, because I mean this is important to us…and I would be extremely upset if I can’t seem to contact my photographer or if I’m being ignored. But I honestly think there are some misunderstandings here. Jeff is a first generation Korean. He has a Korean accent and may not express himself in the same ways we are all familiar with. However, this shouldn’t be held against him and if something is unclear, please ask until you get a clear answer.

And Jeff, if you do happen to read this…please understand where the ladies are coming from and maybe set a communication channel during your initial meeting. Communication is always the key =).

Ladies, Jeff seems to respond very quickly and effectively through text messaging, maybe this will help you?

I don’t typically participate in online discussions (actually never). I just had such an amazing experience and it would be such a pity if this was all a misunderstanding.

Anyway, I hope everything will work out for all you beautiful brides out there!

Good luck everybody!

First, Buta- this is maya_001 from almost 8 months ago. I want to make a public apology to you if I had offended you. This goes to all the ladies on this thread with what I have said a while back. I actually would have done this sooner than now but, I never thought it would go this long. I guess it was this one weekend where I got really bored and decided to check out how my friend, colleague, Jeff was doing post this message 8 months back… and wow—

What I have said and how I’ve said it was wrong. I hope you understand that it’s really not so easy being anything in this life time when our economy is digging it’s own burial. With that said, don’t think that this gives anyone an excuse when making a mistake… it doesn’t. However, this should be a private matter… nothing that should be announced in public. This blog is supposed to encourage one another, share knowledge that will help others, its supposed to help and guide people. This thread is different. It started with pointing out unprofessional acts then, it got to some other agenda that is quite offensive… something about his language… that’s wrong… that’s really wrong.

Ladies, stop this… please. Even if Jeff was not my colleague and friend, I would probably say the same… it’s not right to humiliate people in public. That’s why I’m back here… to apologize for what I had said. Buta… if you’re reading this… I’m sorry that you were not happy with your outcome. I don’t have the fortune of being anyone’s bride so, I didn’t put myself in your situation. I should have but,… sometimes, my fingers are faster than my reasonable sensibility.

Hello Hive & Mr. Bee,

I would like to update on the progress we've made with Mr. Yeon. He is in the process of trying to figure out how much he is willing to refund us for our E-session and photo album. We will be patiently waiting with a time frame this time around.

I am not on here to bash Mr. Yeon. I was desperately seeking a way to find him and came across this board that I have been a fan of for years (since the Miss Insect & flower days). I even thought about hiring a private eye to find him. To my delight he responded to me on here and has contacted me to resolve this matter. We could have plenty filed a lawsuit considering my brother-in-law is an attorney but we felt that suing someone who was much like our parents, starting a business in country where the language was not their native tongue, was not going to make us happy. And Mr. Yeon despite having lost our E-pics really went out of his way on our wedding day to make it up to us. We figured it could happen to anyone, having your computer crash with all your clients files and photos. Our problem with Mr. Yeon was his dodging our calls and emails and being rude once we did get a hold of him. We are not looking for a friendly attitude so long as we get this resolved. How he conducts his business and treats his clients his up to him.

We will post our outcome and hopefully this time it's a positive outcome. Wish me luck ladies. Thank you all for your words of advice and support. It really gave me the nerve to pursue this once again.

the photographer could have the best photographs in the universe - choirs of angels could sing when you looked at his photographs. He could offer his services for free, and clean my house while he's at it. But if he can't complete his business transactions or deliver the photos, I wouldn't think for a nanonsecond to hire him.

@moderndaisy - You brought up a lot of great points in your earlier thread, which is why I left it up. :-)

In any case, I'd like to keep the focus moving forward on the vendor's performance, if that's all right!

I think I started the Grammar thing and I didn't mean it to be offensive. I know plenty of non-foreigners with less than perfect grammar. And I live in NYC which is obviously somewhat of a melting pot of cultures which I love.

The problem I have with his bad grammar is that he is working with English speaking clients and doesn't seem to be making an effort to communicate effectively. By not responding in the first place, then responding with very hard to understand sentences. And being mean to boot! I sometimes suspect people like him are hiding behind the language/cultural barrier on purpose which doesn't fly when you are being paid to perform a service and under contract.

There were some comments here that focused on Jeff's grammar - I went ahead and deleted them, b/c it was getting a bit personal.

Both my mom and Bee's mom are immigrants with less than perfect English, and I'd hate to think that they wouldn't be welcome here.

Putting all that aside, I think some valid points have been raised here and I'd like to give Jeff a chance to respond to his customers (and vice versa).

This is one hot @$$ mess all around. What a loser businessman!

I wish everyone who's dealing with this horrible man the best of luck. I would print this and take it to court with me. For real.

And I don't know why maya felt the need to come on here all defensive of someone who clearly is not deserving of it and in that manner....they must be drinking the same water tainted with crazy.

I'm just saying...
