I have been getting facials every 4 weeks for the last 8 years. I break out the day after. I also get waxed at the same time & it is only around those areas that get waxed that I break out. It is not a massive break out, it is just a few spots here & there. For me, it goes away in a couple of days. I will get a facial about a little over a week before my wedding. Even though my face is used to it, she will be using a milder cleaner to try & prevent the breakouts.

I see that your wedding is in July - you have plenty of time. Depending on the place you get it, most likely it is better to get a 'package'~ you can request a 'tryout' session to see if you like it...make sure they are using best products and of course, a reputable and great esthetician!!!

My personal experience is ...my mother-in-law was generous to get me 10 sessions...9 of those sessions were just SO-SO....as in, I feel like the skincare I did the last 2 months before my wedding helped my skin clear up more than the 9 sessions. I didn't want to risk having scars before my wedding so I scheduled it AFTER my wedding...and guess what, the place got a NEW esthetician and she was FANTASTIC.

I hate getting my acne popped...it is painful! The first esthetician took too long with it and wasn't very skilled at doing it and my face looked so red and awful after and I felt a bit depressed...It is also tiem consuming...my sessions lasted 90 minutes to 110 min or so...But the beneficial thing is when the 2nd mask was applied I got to take a nap, but sometiems I wake up disoriented, and then I realize i'm at the salon with a face mask~ lol

definately no later than 4 weeks before.... alot of facials are designed to remove impurities and the only way to do that is to bring them to the surface causeing the more breakouts... so with the first few intial facials it makes your skin worse before it makes it better

I'm planning on doing the same thing and possibly offering facials as a nice thing to do for my BMs. But, I would go at least more than 4 weeks to the wedding. Especially if you've never had one before. Otherwise, if you want to go, I suggest doing it just like other people do hair runs. Go and try it out a few months before the wedding. That way you'll know how you'll react when you get the final one done before the wedding date.

No, forego the facial if it is within six weeks of your wedding. I say six weeks, because though any reaction will subside within a week, but the stress and trauma will not.

I know I have sensitve skin with a bit of rosacea. I started seeing a dermatologist a year before my wedding and she acknowledged that I have sensitve skin and even advised for me never to have a facial outside of her office. Well, we got all these spa certificates for the holidays and I used one for a massage (eh) and went for a facial for very sensitive skin using natural products. They tested an area and had no immediate reaction so I continued.

As I was driving away, I could feel my face heating up. It got worse the next day. My face felt like it was on fire. The local pharmacist didn't know what to do. My dermatologist saw me and told me to use cold milk compresses on the face to calm the heat and sting. It just had to go away on its own. Needless to say, I visited the spa and with one look they returned all my money.

You know your skin. If not, go to a dermatologist for advice. Or stick with natural home remedies - cucumbers or egg yolk peel or cold milk or.....hmmm.

God, I love facials. I definitely see the difference and for my husband, they were nothing short of a miracle. A deep clense facial stopped his cycle of bad skin in its tracks. I couldn't stop staring at his face afterwards; it was a huge, huge turnaround.

I would try getting one at least 4 weeks away from the wedding in case you have a reaction the first time. I really like how my skin looks after one but you want to be safe the first time in case of a bad reaction!

I got three facials leading up to the wedding, the last one a couple of weeks before the wedding. For me, it definitely made a difference (I have oily/dry combination skin with acne), but I think everyone reacts differently and you might want to do a test run a few months before to see if you like the results.

And definitely ask around to find a reputable aesthetician... I've found that who you go to can make a big difference.

I have never in my life gotten a facial, but I'm half-considering asking for a gift cert for one from my family for Christmas. Will a facial actually make my skin look better? How soon before the wedding should I do it? Would you generally recommend it?
