THANK YOU!!! OMG, you have NO IDEA how much grief you just saved me. I've been bummed ever since my 1st meeting with the florist that I can't get peonies. I'm not picky about the flowers but that was the ONE thing I wanted - a bouquet of peonies just for me - not the rest of the wedding. I was going to settle for ranunculus but you just saved me from that. ;)

@Dancy Yes, they're garden roses. They're usually more expensive than regular roses, but much less than peonies. There are sooo many beautiful varieties out there. http://www.fiftyflowers.com/flowers/BulkRosesGardenRoses_23689.htm The ones in the last picture are "peony rose pink metropole".

I've said it before and I'll say it again... you girls are awesome :)

@mmmarries- my parents are already giving us 5-7K so I really would not like to ask for more :) I actually feel badly about how she is giving us. And cutting the guest list isn't an option. our family alone is about 90. So our list is like family + wedding party + a VERY few friends.

I think the hardest thing about your budget is the number of guests. Usually when folks have small budgets, they have a small guest list. But, I totally understand not wanting to make your guest list smaller. I do think that you will get some $$ from your guests as wedding gifts, so going over budget by $2 or $3K would be safe.

As for the flowers, I just don't think you have room for them in your budget. If they are important for your mom, then I think you have to ask her to fund them.

You couldread what some of the bees did about finding vendors in craigslist. That could really but down your music, photography and possibly even catering budgets.

I wanted peonies SO bad but there's just no way to get them in Sept. unless you pay about $13-$17 per stem. Those flowers (like the ones in the last pic) are roses?!?

I was too lazy to read through every single one of these so I'm sorry if I repeat anything! We're having an outdoor wedding so some of our savers wouldn't help you. We're on a $15k CAD budget (minus honeymoon for us too!). Here are some of the things we've done:

1) Bought out outfits/jewellery from non-wedding stores (his suit from H&M, my dress from BCBG, my necklace from RW & Co. for $12)

2) Bought things from ebay/etsy (my veil was only $23)

3) Using some 'friendors' (friend that does graphic design on the side is doing our invites on the cheap)

4) Asked around; a girl at my fiance's work suggested our photographer who does it part-time, he's only charging $700 for all day photography, travel charges, a hardcover printed photobook, full unlocked and edited pictures, and a 11X17 framed picture

5) Non-floral centrepieces; we are having potted herbs which are pretty and practical! I'm thinking of growing them but we may buy the plants from the farmers' market.

6) Asked for giftcards to places for gifts; we got a $50 ikea giftcard as a present that bought our centrepiece containers, fabric for our DIY photobooth and paper napkins for our cocktail hour

7) Think outside of the box! But I know I don't have to tell you this one :-)

Another thing you could do is borrow from friends or family; for example a lot of people wear a relative's/friend's veil or jewellery for example. Or recently I've seen a lot of people use family vases etc. for decor. You never know until you ask!

That's what my budget is & I have about twice as many people!!

I didn't read all of these-but I agree with what I saw-use ebay, look for coupons, go to garage sales-anything like that.

We're also getting married in the church I grew up going to & member's don't need to pay for rental. We're having our reception at an exempt hall, not somewhere fancy.

We're bartering w/ our photog, we're not having a videographer-only having FI's cousin tape the ceremony, aunt will most likely be doing the flowers & we'll be DIYing a lot-FSIL & I will be doing our programs.

I'm sure that you can do it. We were thinking that we were going to have that many people at first and we were way under $10k. And since you are a DIY queen, I'm sure things can be a lot cheaper than what we did!

Wow Corgi! You should be feeling so much better - heck i'm thinking about cutting my budget (or coming in under) just with some of these great ideas.

I love the ideas of centerpieces doubling as favors, serving sheet cake, florists that work from home, and using students photographers. All great ideas!

:)

@amour toujour (i still get a kick out of your name lol) : love the garden roses they have to be my FAVORITE flower now they are so peony-esque...

@corgs: you may actually be able to find someone by word of mouth who does flowers out of their home. check with the gardening clubs etc to see if there is someone or even put an add out in craigslist... that way you can get a better price for not having to use a florist... good luck!!
