Sauerkraut and smoked salmon. Both of which are Mr. KM's favorite foods. Oops.

Any kind of meats, eggs, milk, cheese, seafood, vegetables or grain make me gag. I have to run outside and ralph if I even smell them. The worst is the stench of bread baking.

@jocelyn3476 sorry :( i felt the need to convey just what they are like with the picture.

@daydreamwanderer little kids love munching them on sticks here too! But as Korea has rapidly (and I mean rapidly!) developed, the fun and funky food has also rapidly decreased. You can still find the pigs hearts hanging up in the market and go to special grilled pig skin restaurants (not to mention the dog stew), but China is definately the place to go for every kind of meat possible! Have you been to that street in Beijing that sells everything on a stick? I'm a vegetarian, but I kind of love the thought of scorpion on a stick.

@bamm -- awwwww silkworms!! We eat those here too :)

Okay, I've never eatten them, but my vegetable lady sells them. I used to be grossed out by them but now I like to poke the box and watch them all wiggle (yes, they're sold alive here; there too?). Here they put 'em on a stick and roast them, among other things.

@lol at a lot of these- I like all foods heh, I'm just a vegetarian because meat hurts my stomach. But I've eaten it all, and will try anything! I even make my own frequently- I make sauerkraut (and that one can get a bit stinky!), fermented pickles, fermented garlic, pickled beets/okra/beans/green tomatos, yum! Tuna, sardines, anchovies, raw oysters, yum yum! And I still miss bone marrow heh. I've even made the "natural" carbonated drinks, IE, lemonade that's fizzy because it's made out of the whey leftover from my cheese making. It's actually pretty good! But I also like kombucha, and I love kefir, so I'm just a weirdo I guess.

That being said...

If it's natural, I'll eat it, no matter what the veggie and if someone said ok no veggie food for you, you have to eat ______ weird part of *insert random* animal, I'd be a-ok with it. But I will NOT eat and can't STAND processed food. Give me a plate of kale, a gallon of pickles, a single beet, a slice of tongue, but NONE of the following:

Funnel cakes, elephant ears, any fair food like that, hostess cakes, grocery store cake, frosting out of a can, velveeta mac&cheese, nope not gonna touch it, makes me GAG- I can't even smell it, or it will make me feel ill. Same goes for american cheese, preserved meats, etc. My FI is still astonished that I've enjoyed ostrich and every veggie under the sun, but have never eaten a corn dog, a "sloppy joe", a twinkie, or any of that other stuff. I hadn't even had a grilled cheese until three years ago :P

Only natural thing I won't touch is Cilantro, I hate the stuff- I can eat salsa and guac that has a little bit in there, but if there are big undiced leaves floating around, forget it, won't eat it!

@bamboo...my grandfather LOVED tongue. eeww

I have a list of 4 I absolutely refuse to eat under any circumstances: meat of any kind, pickled eggs, vegemite, those black salty dutch candies.

The absolute worst food smell I've ever encountered though is in Korea: silk worm larvae. Now, since I'm a vegetarian, an animal is an animal...but it's the SMELL that makes me want to vomit. They are brown and tiny and old women cook them in big vats. The worst part is that they are a favourite hiking snack....so when the wind it blowing, it carries the smell up the mountain with you. FI LOVES them (they are kind of a nostalgia food from childhood), but he is absolutely banned from bringing the cooked or canned (yes! you can get bugs in cans!!!!) into the house.
