@skimilk - I didn't bring my dress with me to Bratenders (I'm too lazy), but made sure I knew where it hit me on my back and bust. Raquel did my fitting and asked me a bunch of questions about the dress (is there rouching, how tight is it, silhouette, fabric, etc.) to make sure the bustiers she showed me would work. I'm sure they'd be fine with you bringing your dress though - you can always ask when you call for an appointment.

My dress is finally here so I also need to go shopping for an appropriate bra or corset or whatever. I was thinking about going to Bratenders too having heard many good reviews -- I was wondering if any of you actually brought your dress to the fitting there? I have no idea how it works -- I pretty much exclusively wear VS cotton stuff, so not a lingerie kinda girl.

thx. will check out bra tenders and town shop.

hhcheung2000 - i don't know. i'm a c/d cup and would prefer not to be moving around too much since the dress is empire cut and not fitted in the rib cage area either. if i can't find anything, that's what i'll do i guess.

Can you have bra cups sewn in or do you really need a bra? The store I went to that sold me the bridal dress had bras that they ordered that were made to be sewn into the dress. That way I won't feel completely naked on the day of the wedding.

Your dress is beautiful! I second Bratenders, as well as Town Shop on Broadway/82nd. They have an extensive selection and are experts at fitting a good fit. Good luck!

I went to Bratenders last week and it was awesome. They have everything. I tried on one bustier that was cut really low in front and had a low scoop back that would probably work.

They're on the west side, somewhere in the 40s. You need to schedule an appointment in advance for a fitting. They are a little pricey (I spent $150, and the one I mentioned above was $100), but they make it so easy. They really know their stuff.

Miss Swan posted about them too a few months ago.

Ladies, I need your help.

My 1st fitting is this Saturday (7/25). I've got a great strapless gown and I'm really excited about it.

http://www.nicolemiller.com/bridal_09.html (it's FV0006, in the top left corner - for some reason I can't get the actual photo to link)

I've just found out that the bustier I got weeks ago doesn't work. The notch in the neckline goes down further than my bustier.

I went back to the store to get something else but they didn't have anything that worked.

Do you have suggestions of where I could go (Manhattan preferably since I don't think I'll be able to trek to the outerboroughs during the work week) to get a bustier that is cut low in front and scooped (though not necessarily backless) in the back?

Any suggestions would be very much welcome!

Thanks
