Our DOC cost $1500 and starting creating timelines and vendor contact sheets about a month before the wedding. On the day of the ceremony, she was with us for ten hours along with an assistant and intern. I was anti-DOC for a long time, but I'm very glad we hired her!

Hey, I just realized you're in Tustin. I moved from there 3 years ago. Nice to see a local on the boards :)

Mine is actually my officiant's assistant. She is charging $300 and will only be cordinating the ceremony portion. It seems pricey, but I really didn't want to risk it. Oh, and I'm in the Southern California area.

I'm in LA and an experienced DOC will run you about $800.

I had Month of Coordination which means mine took over the last few weeks before the wedding. I didn't talk to vendors about timelines, etc. That cost $1875.

That is definitely a great price--I'm in nyc and the lowest I've seen is $600. Make sure the price includes the number of hours you need; some DOCs charge less but then you realize that they're just giving you fewer hours to meet your budget.

Reading Mrs. Penguin's post is what prompted me to reconsider having a DOC. I'm going to be doing a LOT of DIY projects, and well, i think I have to admit that I can't do it all!

@ Mrs. Bee- Thanks for the wedding planning budgets link! I was trying to find it but couldn't! thanks!

@FAQ219 - Tustin is a smaller suburb in orange county, CA. I should probably change my profile to reflect that. :)

My DOC is costing $1350, and I know it will be well worth it. Check out Mrs. Penguin's recent post about not have a DOC and regretting it, along with the "Real Bee Budget" post about DOCs that Miss Gloss mentioned. I'm not sure where you live (never heard of Tustin), but I think $400 is extremely reasonable.

DOC stands for Day of Coordinator. That person basically makes sure everything runs smoothly and takes care of all the behind-the-scenes things on the wedding day.
