I'm just learning about different types of bustles too. The consultant I went to suggested I do a French bustle for the dress I like best, but I don't like the look of it on that particular dress. I found this video on youtube that I found kind of helpful.  <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBzY2KclK8E">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBzY2KclK8E</a> I also found a one called a Ballroom Bustle & I like the pictures I saw but they're too small to really see how it's done.  TIP: The store I'll prob. buy my dress from uses buttons & loops for most of their bustles which makes it easier. Even better, they color code them, so you know which pieces go together. What a great idea!?! It prob. wouldn't work with a dress that had an American bustle but I wish my cousin's dress had that when I was her MOH. LOL

Gotcha.  The train will be like exactly what the picture shows (even though it's hard to see the back).  I want something that will actually look like a bustle (much like the picture that crebre posted).  The lady at the shop was talking about essentially just turning under the train so it would look the same all around and you would not be able to tell there was even a train on it it to start with.  This did NOT sound appealing to you.  More pictures please!!  Thanks for your help!

@soon2bee: A sweep train is just super short. Barely drags behind you at all.

@crebre80 - Yes.  Maggie Sotterro Vivien (without straps).   @cannotwait - Do you have a picture of the sweep train?  I'm not sure I know what that is.

I'm no expert, but besides bustle type, the longer the train, the puffier it will be, and the heavier it will be in the back (my sister almost fell backwards w/ her bustle, so I got a small train!)  are you wanting to keep your train long, bc the seamstress could make it a sweep train, like I had and loved it!

First off, your dress is amazing!  I'm a personal fan of french bustles, which I guess is underneath and kind of gathered at the bottom...Maybe you'd be able to do something like Mrs. Peep Toe...her bustle was fantastic...and her dress was fairly streamlined like what you want...

If you dont want it poofy in the back, Id go for the American bustle, which they just have a hook up at the back around the high butt area and you pin it up there.  Depending on the length of the train it will be 1-3 points for the bustle and lies pretty flat against the back.  Gorgeous dress!
