I did that, then took it tot he DMV. I did them within 30 minutes of each other. You don't need the new card... I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long the process usually takes, and if I'll be getting my new SS card right then and there (or, at least, something that shows  I've applied to change my name)? I'd like to go to the DMV tomorrow to change my license, but I've read that you need to change your name at the SS office first. I've used newlastname.org to get my info, but unfortunately, it doesn't state how long things take and if I can do the next step one day after the first. I'm in Illinois if that helps. Any experiences would be appreciated! Thanks, bees!
