2 days after not hearing from her personally. I decided to send her a few emails with questions regarding photographers, videographers, STD stationery, and wedding dj/band since those are my primary designated roles in the wedding. For the organizational aspect and knowing there is a very likely chance of a high volume exchange of replies on each topic, I sent her one subject per email. I didn't think that was unreasonable. One might be wedding photographer, wedding dance shoes, wedding videographer, STD stationery, and so on to keep the conversational thread together.

She replied to every one of my questions within the hour as late as 11pm. That was very impressive. I wasn't expecting a reponse back after maybe a day or two. In her last response, she sounded very annoyed in her emails. Since then I haven't asked any more questions and she has been very diligent in scheduling appointments with the photography vendors via emails. My fiancee has sent her maybe 2-3 emails since the weekend and then yesterday, she insitutes the email limit policy.

I guess the consolidated emails make sense for organization. Although I can see how questions can get lost in the mix and go unanswered or neglected at the same time.

No - not heard of that. Our planner has an "unlimited" email policy but set a number of live vendor meetings she would attend in the early planning stages within the boundary of the contract. That said, she has gladly exceeded her "maximum" with us at no additional charge. I think the wording is in the contract to protect herself from being drug from meeting to meeting by people who are vendor shopping. By limiting her meetings to co-attend, it helps the client really focus on when the planner's assistance is most needed. Perhaps that's what your planner intends - to set a "limit" on emails to protect herself from an unorganized person sending her 25 emails a day. I try to save myself and my planner time by keeping an ongoing list of questions organized on a Word document which I email to her every couple of weeks to review and act on. This has worked out great for us.

I've heard of that before, it happens when too many emails are sent in one day. It allows her to keep organized, I'm sure you would dislike it if you sent one email with several questions and she answers you question by question. I would spend all day compiling questions in one email and then hit send at the end of the day. Allow her one day to answer all your question. It's about organization.

It could be that she wants to make sure that nothing is "missed" in a flurry of separate emails. Have you been sending her a lot of short emails with different points, such as one email about linens, four emails about flower choices, seven links for invitations, three emails about catering, two emails about musicians, etc.? It could be that she's trying to stay on top of your event by forcing you to organize your thoughts into something with a little more structure. For example, a bi-weekly email with different categories, each with its own list of questions and notes.

I don't know the whole story, but perhaps she's just trying to make your communication style match up a little bit more with the way she's used to doing business. Good luck!

That's pretty weird....nevertheless though it couldn't be that hard to adjust to. Just send all your questions in one email. She probably instituted the policy after being inundated by clients' emails, but really that should be her problem not yours. If she's come so highly recommended I am sure despite this weird policy that she will do a good job.

I've never heard of such. I agree--if you haven't already hired this person, keep looking. If you have, review your contract.

Can a wedding planner institute an email limit on how many emails per day you are allowed to send them to ask questions and correspondence? Has anyone ever heard or experienced such a thing?
