Hi -

I am trying to get my bridesmaid to try on her dress and so far she has politely come up with reasons why she can't. I'm concerned she may not fit in it and it is discontinued - I've been looking and looking and it just isn't out there anymore. I am terrified it won't fit and she'll expect me to buy another dress for her - which would mean I would have to buy new dresses for all of my bridesmaids as it is really important they all match and the color just isn't out there anymore.

If she can't fit in it what do I do? It would be a case of the dress being too small. I know this is lame but the idea of having to redo my BM dresses into another color has me in tears.

As I was browsing through some ring threads, I noticed many ladies talking about their promise rings. I don't think I realized this is still such a popular tradition! For some reason I was under the impression that it was a.) Something teenage boys did to get their girlfriends to sleep with them, or b.) Somthing that just stopped happening in our generation. But, now I'm starting to think it's super cute, and that I really want one! So, I created a poll to indulge my curiosity. Tips on how one can go about acquiring a p-ring would be appreciated, by the way!! :-D

I'm the father of a groom who will be getting married in August 2010. I am divorced from his mother. We have three other children together another son and two daughters. Since the planning of the wedding me, my ex wife and kids have been left out of a lot stuff despite our efforts of offering to help. The wedding party will consist of the mostly of the bride's family. My son's closest friend will be the best man and the brides brothers and cousin will be groomsmen. My other son is currently deployed in Iraq and won't be back until October 2010. He will be missing the wedding.

My ex and I are both upset about what has been going with the wedding planning. At first we thought maybe they weren't involving us too much because we are divorced. My ex and I get along well so we don't think that's the reason. Pretty much everyone I have talked to as said that the bride and her family usually have more involvement with stuff and that me and my ex wife's obligation is just to give the rehearsal dinner. I just don't feel that it's right that the groom's family gets left out a lot. I just want to why it seems ok to most people for the groom's family to be left out a lot and have lesser role in a wedding.

Does anyone have any ideas on how one might dress up a simple wedding dress? Don't get me wrong, I'm really in love with the simple elegance of my dress. But I'm thinking of dressing it up slightly and I'm not sure how I might go about doing so. It's a simple bateau neck, A-line dress in ivory silk shantung with a matching waist sash which ties into a bow around the back.

I might even consider dressing it up with big jewelry, like earrings or a cuff bracelet. With the neckline, I probably wouldn't wear a necklace.

I'm very open to ideas. Thanks!

I am looking for Watters 9052b, but it retails for over $1300 which is over my budget. I would love to find it used, but I'm having a hard time finding it. There is a size 10 for 1000 on bravobride, but i'd have to get lots of alterations and that is still more than I want to pay.

I've looked at

Ebay

Craigslist (every city where I know somone)

Preownedweddingdresses.com

bravobride.com

oncewed.com

weddingbee classifieds

What am I missing? Where else should I look?

All of my bridesmaids will be in black, tea-length dresses and I would like all of them, and myself, to wear bright yellow shoes. However, I am having a VERY hard time finding yellow shoes. I would prefer peep toe heels. Can anyone help? I get married in Feb.
