- Wedding: September 2014
We got married this past Saturday. It was not flawless, it was chaotic, stressful at times, crazy – but basically perfect! That makes sense if you know myself and Fiance as a couple. The day before was so stressful, getting all last minute things done and FI’s family basically doing nothing, asking him to take them around the city instead of helping, then sitting around the house when he came back to help instead. But my bridesmaids were incredible, Fiance and his groomsmen all stepped up and were awesome and I got everything done at 1am.
Then Saturday I wake up to rain. My sisters and I went to the mansion/venue, decided to start getting ready, and the rain cleared right when I needed to make a decision on indoor/outdoor ceremony! My Fiance was 3 hours late due to deciding to get a haircut the morning of and not knowing salons need appointments. So the stuff he was supposed to do (set up the birch arch), we asked his family to do…. and they waited until he got there 15 minutes before the ceremony.
But he got it built! Aaaaaand it was on the grass behind where we were actually married! Lol. The pastor was amazing, such a great mix of emotion, seriousness and humour – just like life. Photos were a little crazy, because it started late family photos were shortened and they tried to get upset and butt into our bridal photos (actually tried telling the photographer how to take pictures!), but she was such a pro and handled them with grace. She captured some incredible shots – the sun came out halfway through.
The caterer never told me they didn’t find my seating chart, so everyone was standing around when they were supposed to be seated. The DJ’s system malfunctioned and needed to be re-booted right before our entrance. Dinner started late so we didn’t get an outdoor sparkler group shot. We forgot the mother/son-father/daughter dance because of that. People went into the kitchen and took the tray of food I had specifically ordered from the caterer to take home so I wouldn’t have to cook. Fiance (Now DH!)’s stepfather tried to make off with our leftover booze. And yet somehow it was still the best day ever. Everyone came and said it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to – it was so filled with love, laughter and dance-offs, it made for a great night!
All photo credit is to Simply Lace Photography – she was amazing and had my sneak peak done a day later!
(I’m a boxer so I made them all flex)
