- Wedding: August 2014
Okay, I have been engaged for 4 years. Plenty of time to change my mind on things a few times….and trust me I have! Being my second wedding and the fact that I can pretty much have whatever I want, within reason, I have this luxury. We have also had 3 weddings dates that have had to be changed for one reason or another. All be they good ones, it still has not been fun. Anyway, we have set the date above and said we were sticking to it! No matter who is placed in ICU, who has been out of town for 2 weeks and feels just too overwhelemed to go to counseling with the preacher when they return, no matter what! Keep in mind, with this being 2nd marriages for us both it will be small and we have the option of waiting till the last minute to plan as it is like an “elopement” of sorts anyway.
Our first wedding date was June 3rd, 2011 and as stated above, my granny was placed in the ICU and passed on July 14th of that year. Looking back, I know that if she had been in her right mind she would have been very upset to know we had cancelled our wedding. Anyway, in planning that wedding I made myself a “knock off” of the Lazaro Tulle dress in Sherbet. I have decided to wear this dress when we get married in Oct. of this year because I absolutely love it and feel like a princess in it.
Our second wedding date, Dec 1st, 2012, I had been in El Paso visiting my brother who was stationed there at the time. A road trip across country with 3 very rowdy kids and one very grumpy mother and I just did not want to come home and followup and plan everything (what I had not already anyway) in the just two weeks we had once we returned home. Plus the news of my brother’s return in Feb of this year while we were in El Paso made me want to put it off even more. Part of my hesitation the last 4 years was knowing that I would not have my little brother there to celebrate this with me because of his commitment to Uncle Sam. Anyway, for this wedding I had purchased a simple ball gown (bridesmaid not wedding) in Rose Petal from David’s Bridal.
As stated above, I have planned to wear the Lazaro “knock off” this time around. However, I have ALWAYS wanted a lace dress. Even when I was married the first time. However, I could not justify the expense of one to wear for just an hour or two. Even from these knock off sites, which I am very afraid to buy from anyway.
Today, while scrolling Etsy, I found some lace on sale. I had purchased samples of this before but still could not justify the price of it for my wedding dress. But I told my fiance I would be purchasing it to make me a new dress and he just rolled his eyes!
So long story short….LOL!!! I was wondering how many brides have changed their dress at least once, or maybe more.
