Our 1 year anniversary is quickly approaching...I had a quick question for those in the North Jersey/New York area...
Does anyone know of any romantic/reasonably priced vineyards in Upstate, NY that we can go to for the week/weekend just to celebrate?
I'd love to hear from anyone with any information...
    Thank you!

I live in Rochester, NY, and have been researching vineyards both for my sister's wedding and potentially for my own. So, that said, I haven't actually been to any of these places, but here's a boatload of links. Hope this helps!

Also, I would suggest checking out some general information on the Finger Lakes area, if you aren't already familiar with it.

<span class="yschurl"><font color="#008000"><span class="yschurl"><span class="yschurl">One winery I AM familiar with is Casa Larga which is between Fairport and Victor, on the southeast side of Rochester. We live about two miles from this vineyard. They do daily tours and tastings, and have fantastic wines. It is close to the very cute historic village of Fairport which is right on the Erie Canal. I'm sure there are plenty of B&B's nearby you could stay at, as well as fun things to do in the village, such as a dinner cruise on the Colonial Belle on the canal.

I've been to Shinn Estate Vineyards twice out in Long Island and absolutely loved it!  It's in the middle of Long Island's wine region so there are tons of vineyards around but I prefer Shinn because it's a lot smaller, quaint, and the owners are really nice.  They host tours on Saturdays and actually take you through the vineyard and explain the whole process.  They've just opened a bed and breakfast right on site too.  The owners also have a restaurant in Manhattan in the west village called Home.  The food there was delicious and I've heard that all ingredients are from local farms and the wines are from their vineyard.

I would love to stay there one day so please let me know what you think of it if you decide to go!

    Good luck in your search!

We also love the Fingerlakes! We actually got married at our favorite vineyard, The Thirsty Owl, and we always visit our other 2 favorites- Cayuga Ridge & Sheldrake. The restaurant at Sheldrake is super romantic- lakeside, very elegant, and out-of-this-world food! The staff really caters to folks celebrating special occasions...
