It’s my 1 year anniversary of getting engaged! (and also of seeing Panda bears for the first time!)
I went on a family vacation to Palm Springs, CA. FI had just started a new job and didn’t have enough vacation time to go with us. I had a feeling that he was going to surprise me and get on the plane with me (he was the one who booked my plane tickets)- he didn’t. Even though he didn’t get on the plane with me, I still had a feeling he was going to fly out to Palm Springs to surprise me! I told the whole family that I thought he was going to come out to CA and propose. They all knew he was coming, but only to surprise me, not propose! My brother in law and his father secretly went to pick him up at the airport Wednesday night. I had guessed before they were back that they had went to get FI! I was right!
Thursday morning, mom and I had our day planned- we were going to San Diego zoo to see the pandas, just the 2 of us. Well now that Josh was there- I wanted him to go with us! Josh had thought that the whole family was going to the zoo and that we were taking 2 vehicles. He figured everyone else could leave after the zoo in 1 car and we (him and I) would stay in San Diego with the other car. He had made reservations at a restaurant on the beach. He had the perfect location “planned”. But since we were only taking 1 car to the zoo, his plans got flipped upside down. We went to the zoo and had a great time. The restaurant called while we were driving back to Palm Springs to confirm the reservation. He had to cancel the reservation with me sitting right next to him. After driving for nearly 3 hours, I was tired, but Josh wanted to go out to a nice restaurant. I thought “well maybe he will propose tonight.” But then we drove and drove trying to find a restaurant- I got frustrated. We ended up at LG Steakhouse in Palm Springs. After a glass of Layer Cake Zinfandel (If you haven’t tried it- do it! It’s excellent!), I was feeling much better. The thought of getting engaged that night was completely gone from my mind. After dinner we drove back to the house we were staying at. I got out of the car to go out back to the pool. Josh came over to me and was acting a bit nervous. He then pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked me to marry him! Of course I said “Yes!” (well after telling him I needed to think about it……… )
I was able to get engaged with my family there with me and Josh, well he finally got the chance to surprise me!
