@MissSparky:  YAY!

We have a lot done.

Finished:

– invites designed, bought, envelopes stuffed, return address labels stuck

– venue chosen, contract negotiated, signed, deposits paid

– DJ booked

– Officiant booked

– Dress bought, earrings, bracelet bought

– Florist booked

– Photographer booked, deposit paid

– night before, night of hotel rooms booked and deposits paid

– wedding website up and running

– centrepieces designed

– thank you favours sourced

– thank you cards printed, return address labels printed (also personal thank you cards were printed with return address labels for any showers, help with the planning, etc. from me personally.)

– letters written (we wrote letters to each other 1 year from the date of our wedding.  They are sealed and we’ll read them the day before our wedding and then write new ones for our 1st anniversary.)

– day of itinerary (I had to do this early so I could plan everything else.  I need to work backwards.)

– Bridal party chosen and asked

Work in Progress:

– song list (aka, the must play list)

– photo list

To Do:

– email save the dates (this week)

– address invitations, hand out (we’re hand delivering a bunch in May because we’ll be overseas then.  The Canadian guests will get theirs – hand delivered, in September.  The rest will be mailed then.)

– RSVPs are due November 30th (we don’t want to get lost in the Christmas shuffle.)

– music selections

– tuxes

– choose flowers (have a pretty good idea)

– buy favours

– bake and decorate cookie favours (because I’m insane and want two favours)

– BM, Groomsmen, Child Attendants, Parents gifts to be bought

– seating chart, escort cards, table #s, menus

– programs

– day of coordinator to be booked

– hair stylist chosen but not booked

– make up artist chosen but not booked

– meeting with Officiant re: ceremony (he advised us to meet in August/September)

– Food selections (will not be until 2 weeks prior to the event.  That’s standard at our venue)

– cake

– any DIY signage, etc

– source shoes, cape, veil, headpiece

– hair trial

– make up trial

– Groom’s gift

– OOT bags (if we do them.  I’m still on the fence.  I love the idea, but it looks like a fair amount of work.)

– buy rings (well his, mine needs to be replated since I’m using my Nana’s.)

– engagement photos (first I have to convince him that we need them)

– apply for marriage license

– plan honeymoon (I have left FI in charge of this)

There’s a lot more left than I thought, blargh!

And once we’re back from our honeymoon we have to start planning our Irish Blessing and Irish celebration for late 2015.

@Jellybones:  🙂  I love this stuff.  It’s been so fun so far.  I’d love to actually plan weddings for a living.

@sostobe:  wow you’re good!!

We’ve booked our venues and photographer. Going to meet an officiant on Friday. One of my bridesmaids is flying down in May so I’ll be doing dress shopping then! I’m feeling very casual and not stressed about the whole thing… I wonder if that will bite me in the bum?

Bought my dress, booked the venue and picked the wedding party and officiant (a family friend and mentor of FI’s).  Negotiated finaces with my parents (okay, this is ongoing).

Next: Photographer.  Must find a photographer.

Done:

Venue – deposit paid (this was a nightmare – I was booking 13 months out and my date was the last Saturday left until April!)

Photographer – deposit paid, going to schedule e-pics soon

Dress – just got it yesterday!

In the process of doing:

Caterer – I’ve met with a few, we did a tasting with our favorite, going to pick out the menu/sign contract this week probably

next:

florist? dj? I feel like I finished the big things that need to be booked ASAP so I can relax for a bit, right? 😛

Hey Bees, i feel so unorganised looking at this thread! sostobe: you are like a bride on a mission! lol you must of had lots of ideas of what you wanted early on..?? me on the other hand, getting married on Feb 6th, is happy to have just secured, signed a contract and paid a deposit for our venue today!! aside from that organised STD for guests invited from o/s.. THATS IT!!

im usually super oganised with things like this and we know what we like but there are just too many amazing options to pick from.. even just deciding on a colour scheme is harder than i thought it would be!! lol

Any advice Feb Bees??   The count down is on!!!

Hi, im a febrary bride too! I booked my venue recently (which came with all the decor included), as well as the DJ and the invitations… I know what i want for the catering and the cake, ans next is the photographer and the dress (what I’m most excited about!)

quick question: how far in advace should you take the enagagment pictures? And how far in advance should you order the dress, because my sisters are telling me I should wait at least until the summer.

kayjay612:  I had the same problem when choosing a color scheme. There were so many pretty combinations to choose from! I just went with my gut and ended us choosing blush and navy, which I liked cause I felt it would still go with the month without being too obvious. My best advice is just go with what feels right for you and your signifacnt other and your wedding

kayjay612:  I am uber decisive to start with, Hellooooo type A.  I like to get things done and crossed off my list.  So I wrote a big timeline of when things needed to be done (weddingwire had a good one that I just rearranged to suit our needs) and then I know what my tasks are for the month.  We also went through and used their budget tool, so not only do I have my tasks, but I know how much I have to spend on those tasks (and I love a good deal!).  I give myself 2-3 days to research and gather ideas.  Then I choose my top picks and take them to FI for his input.  He can’t see the big picture when there are too many options.  But when its narrowed down he gives great feedback.  Then either we debate if we can’t agree or we rework it so we can.

The only thing that has been remotely stressful were the bridesmaid dresses.  That was a freaking gong show.  Everything else has been smooth sailing.  It helps, though, that I’m having a blast planning this!  And we went to bridal fair at our venue.  So we met all kinds of vendors in one spot who know the venue and work it regularly.  So that narrowed things down.  And the other vendors have been friends and family kind of deals/discounts.  I’ve worked a lot of my connections to negotiate some sweet deals for us for things like the officiant, DJ, cake, etc.

sostobe: I know how you feel about the bridesmaids dresses! lol i have 6 of them who live in three different states!! ive given up on dresses until im certain on a color scheme.. im tossing up on beige (bridemaids) and navy blues (FI wants the boys to wear navy suits) with hints of gold (problem is the skin tones of my bridesmaids… i dont want them to feel uncomfortable and one of them has hinted that she doesn’t like the idea lol..  i think my problem is too many options out there!! i think your idea is great to give myself a timeline of researching and gather all top picks and make a decision! ive been over thinking things i think!!  im lucky though that my FMIL is an award winning cake baker (although she doesnt decorate) and i have conections to a fantastic cake decorator so im a bit excited about that =)

what your color scheme and inspiration for you weddings??

Mine is in a beautiful winery with huge wine barrels surrounding the room…. pic below

kmartinez:  Im not too sure on when to have engagement pic taken… im hoping to loose a few more pounds before we get ours done!! lol i was going to get ours taken second half of the year as i dont plan on using the pics for invites or anything like that.. <br />

I have been dress shopping a few times both alone and with an entourage but no luck yet!! I found it stressful =( but maybe thats just me.. Also i hope to have my dress in my hands by christmas as i am going to be extremely busy over Dec/Jan with O/S relitives staying before the wedding along with christmas/new years and work!! Keep in mind too that some stores change styles depending on the seasons.. another reason im shopping 12 months out.. so if your going shopping 6 months out you might find summer flowy style dresses when you could be looking for more of a winter style.. just a thought

kayjay612:  That is gorgeous! Navy and beige will be really pretty, and there’s lots you could accent it with if you don’t do gold.

We don’t really have an inspiration photo, just a bunch of ideas.  We’re definitely playing off the snow/ski chalet and its definitely going to be a ‘winter’ wedding, with pinecones, cranberries, snow, lanterns, etc.  The venue is more formal than I’d originally wanted, but it’ll be lovely.
