Age (if you care to share): Me: 31 – DH: 30
TTC since: July 2013
TTC Recap: I got pregnant the third cycle of TTC, but it turned out to be a chemical pregnancy, I then got pregnant 3 more times; all chemical pregnancies. My OB started recurrent pregnancy loss testing so I had an HSG, tons of bloodwork (TSH, prolactin, MTHFR, etc), both DH and I were tested for DNA translocations. Everything was normal. I was then tested for ovarian reserve and my AMH was low (0.4). I then saw an RE who ordered CD3 testing and my numbers were FSH: 9.2, AFC: 10, AMH: 0.16. FSH and AFC are borderline normal, but my AMH is extremely low, so I was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. DH’s SA results were great. I had a miscarriage in October, around 8 weeks but baby stop growing around 7 weeks, normal (no chromosomal abnormalities) female. After the genetics results of my miscarriage my RE completely changed her tune, she no longer recommended IVF+PGD, but instead encouraged us to just keep trying naturally and do acupuncture and stated that I may have been extremely unlucky :/
Issues (if any): Unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss (4 chemical pregnancies, 1 miscarriage). Diminished ovarian reserve.
Currently: 8DPO but I’m TTA this cycle since I had a hysteroscopy at the beginning of my cycle and RE found tissue and removed it. RE sa
Supplements/how are you going about your BFP: Prenatals, Vitamin D, B-Complex, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Fish Oil, CoQ10, DHEA, pregnitude, baby aspirin (after ovulation), OPKs, acupuncture, Chinese herbs.
When I get my BFP, I’ll celebrate by: I’ve already had a couple of BFPs and they didn’t stick, so we won’t celebrate once we hit 14 weeks.
If it’s not this cycle, we’ll: It won’t be this cycle since we’re TTA. But next cycle we will be doing femara + trigger shot + progesterone after confirming ovulation, this is the only treatment my RE recommends. She thinks it may give me a stronger ovulation and the additional hormonal support may help me maintain a pregnancy.
Since TTC after 12+ cycles (or with IF) issues, is a very different experience than a fertile couple trying in the first month, how do you stay positive and hopeful? I lean on my DH for support; he has been my rock and I try to see the positive in the situation. If I had remained pregnant the first time (after 3 months of TTC) I would have never appreciated my future LO as much as I will when I finally have him/her. I also try to remind myself that we will eventually be parents, and even if it may not be the way we originally hoped for, there are other paths to parenthood.
And just for fun, what are your goals for 2015? Finish my MBA in June, finally! I’m so tired of working full time and attending school in the evenings. I also want to change jobs next year, and transition to a new career path.
