I have searched high and low for someone local to come in and do my make up for me and the girls but b/c of my location I have had no luck finding anyone. My wedding is 9/6 and have decided along w/ one of my bridesmaid that we will have to do this ourselves so we will be visiting a make up counter this weekend. Problem is which brand of make up is the best to use for a outside wedding? I will be getting married at 5:00pm so it will not be awful outside I think the forcast is calling for 85 degrees that day but I want something that will last!! My normal makeup is good but I have to keep refreshing throughout the day and I will not have time to do this the day of.... Does anyone have any suggestions on brands of make up that will last until you take it off and photographs great?
I just had a makeup trial at Sephora which was fantastic. For your wedding day you want to choose matte makeup...nothing with mica or sparkles, except for maybe a little bit of eyeshadow. Even that though you probably want to keep more matte. Stay away from the mineral makeup. There is spf in it and that will cause you to have a white cast on your face in pictures.
I HIGHLY recommend Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet+ foundation. And then after all of your makeup is done I would recommend using the Hi Def tranluscent powder they just came out with. It is fantastic!! Same goes for their powder blush. I hate it when blush has too much shimmer in it. Theirs has none...it's called "sculpting blush" I believe.
For eyeshadow, I don't think it matters as much but Urban Decay makes an eyeshadow primer that is unbelievable (and they have great eyeshadoes too). I can't believe I had never gotten it before. You put it on before your eyeshadow and believe me...your eyeshadow will not budge even if you vigorously try to rub it off. And it actually makes the color of the eyeshadow stay true (if that makes sense). I find that a lot of times eyeshadows will look great in the packaging but are a different color when you put it on. This primer potion gives you the true color though.
I went to the MAC counter, and for a $50 minimum purchase they will put the makeup on for you and give you pointers. While the shadows and blushes they chose for me were just like stuff I had at home (so I didn't buy them) I did get a concealer, eye liner, and lip stick all of which I'm happy with.
I've used some recent weddings I attended as a guest to try out my wedding day makeup and below are items I found worked really well and didn't need to be touched up:
The afforementions Urban Decay Primer Potion (I use it on my eyelid and under my eyes so the concealer sticks to hide my dark circles)
Laura Geller's Spackle (goes over moisturizer and under your foundation) keeps everything in place.
MAC Pro Longwear Lipcolour. It REALLY stayed on- despite dinner, wiping my lips with a cloth napkin, etc- for 10 hours without reapplying! Even at the end of the night I had trouble getting it off without makeup remover. It has a shiny sealing topcoat which I thought was too shiny at first, but after a little bit the shine diminishes but the color stays put. Also, I'm used to wearing Burt's Beeswax Lipbalm and I was worried the longwearing lip stuff would feel too dry, but I didn't have the urge to use lipbalm all night.
MAC Technokohl Liner. It's non-smudging and didn't smear despite some tears and sweating.
MAC Select Coverup. It did a really good job of covering up the dark circles under my eyes.
Thanks I appreciate it unforunetly we do not have a Sephora either so I'll have to look for something to replace that but I have access to everything else. Thanks again,
