So what are some exciting that some of you have already coordinated? Colors, venues, etc. Anything. Let's share our ideas to have one amazing day for all of us!
First let me say, I can't believe that it's a <span style="text-decoration: underline;">year until we get married!! So far, I've got the following done...photographer booked, venue booked, church booked, florist booked, wedding colors picked out (plum, green, and brown), I've already got my dress, invitations bought (but thinking about taking those back to get others I've seen), DJ booked, DOC picked out but we still need to meet with her.
I'm waaayyy ahead, lol! Hopefully I will be able to post pics soon. :)
I'm a 10/9/10 bride! I have the church, reception venue, photographer, videographer, florist, DJ, and DOC all booked. I've been engaged since last december though, so we've had a ton of time to plan and book stuff.
I'm a 10/09/10 bride too! yay! You ladies are far ahead. I thought I was doing well in the beginning - we got engaged in March '08 and by January '09 had a reception venue, photographer and my dress. Then it seemed like I had forever to plan, got swept up in all kinds of career junk.....aaaaand now it's a year away. Yikes! This month we settled on a ceremony venue, secured the officiant, blocked hotel rooms (overeager grandma was calling me once a week about this), and found a videographer. I also want to formally ask my bridesmaids so we can start shopping for navy dresses....and start my list of DIY projects. Yikes, I'm totally rambling. Anyways, it's great to find some date twins!
Hmm so far we've booked the venue, photographer, hair, hotel block and guest shuttle, DJ, and I have the dress! Family members are doing videography and cake so that's taken care of too. I'm doing navy, ivory, and blush pink for my colors. Also buying a Gocco soon to begin my diy paper projects, so excited!
Have you ladies started looking at bridesmaid dresses? I'm leaning towards long since it's already cold, but not sure!
I wanted to go with short but it's freezing this morning in Boston, so now I'm wondering if long might be better! Are you getting married in CT? Wondering b/c I am from Mass and my fiance is from NYC so we tried to pick a spot between the two and are getting married in Middletown CT!
I'm 10/9/10, too! So far we have the venue (both ceremony and reception), caterer (it's the venue) and photographer. Up next, DJ and officiant!
Yay! 10/9 bride here!! You ladies are far ahead of me. All I've gotten is the ceremony and reception venue booked, dress and colors. Working on trying to book the photographer right now.
Allison- We're getting married at Tunxis in Farmington, where are you getting married in Middletown?
Just googled Tunxis - looks gorgeous! I bet the foliage will be fantastic. We're getting married at the Barns at Wesleyan Hills. I'll turn to the northwest and wave at you on 10/09/10 lol :)
Hi 10/9/10 ladies! So happy October finally has a board, haha. :) We're pretty far ahead too...we have church, venue, caterer, DJ, and photographer all booked. Next up, dress shopping--so excited!
Hey ladies! Just an update that we've booked the officiant. I am dress shopping now. When do you think we need to decide on and order dresses? I am thinking that I would like to be decided and ordered by April.
New 10-9-10 lady here!! I have ceremony, reception, and photographer booked. I'm on the computer hours a day trying to find a florist and dj. What should I be paying for these things???
@FutureMrsHall: I am having the same problem - I have NO idea what is reasonable, specifically for DJs and Florists, the two "big vendors" we're missing...this is mostly because the weddings my fiance and I have been to have been on one end of the budget spectrum or the other, ie completely extravagant-sounding (you know, like $3,000 for the flowers or something crazy) OR they have friends do flowers/dj-ing for free. I am lost toooooo - not that this is a helpful answer, but at least you know you're not alone, LOL.
@allisonnc- My DJ is $800 and is awesome. I work PT for a wedding planner so I've seen him DJ weddings and he's a great value. PM me and I can give you his email address. I might be able to give you some ideas on florists too!
You guys are way ahead of us. We only have: church, venue, my wedding ring, photographer and invitatioins. I have yet to find a reasonably priced DJ, cheap florist and lose weight before I shop for wedding gowns. Eleven months to go!! Yesss!!

DJ - he's costing us 625 but we get a break cause it's a preferred venue for him - otherwise he costs 900
Baker - great deal... 3 tier cake with top tier for saving for only $275
Photographer
Officiant
We need: Rings, Videographer, I am going dress shopping in Dec *darn holidays in the way*, and Florist... omg so much left to do!
I am a 10/9/10 bride too!!! He officially proposed on Thanksgiving day but we started planning months ago! lol Our colors are Black, Iridescent, and aqua. We have the ceremony and reception site booked. I have my dress, veil, wristlat, book and pen set, ring bearer pillow, unity candles and holders, flower petals, personalized bubbles, personalized napkins, and lots of other small things purchased. I know who my Planner and linen lady will be!!! (I LOVE YOU CREBRE!!!!) ...and now I just need to get started on booking and getting contracts! What an EXCITING time of my life! CONGRATS EVERYONE!

Yay for October brides! I'm getting married on 10/9/10 ~ the day after my 29th bday :-)
We're having a church ceremony and reception at a vineyard in Southern Maryland. I have a couple of things booked: reception venue, caterer, photographer, my ceremony dress (I'm a two dress bride), fiance's wedding band, and dance instructor. Hmmm...still have a looooong list of things to do. Eeeks! But sooo excited!
Woo hoo 10/9/10 so far i have all the following booked or bought church, venue, photographer, florist, and dress!!!! I am ahead of the game but I start nursing school in January so I rather be ahead then stressed out with no time to do anything :)
10 months to go! How is everyone's planning going??
I posted on this board about a week ago and now I have secured 2 more things--the band and the church! Can't believe it's 10 months now!
wow, you've been busy!! we are dragging our feet...or rather, because I'm flying solo on most of the planning missions (ha ha) I am dragging MY feet!!
So far I have my venue (same for ceremony and reception), catering (venue), photographer (very good photog and family member), florist (talented family member), officiant and my dress (yay! my mom, good friend, fiance and his mom all saw it and loved it).
What I really need now is to book a DJ and start deciding on colors so I can get going on save the dates. So much to do!
I'm a 10/16/10 bride and am apparently way far behind in planning, compared with you ladies!
FH and I have decided on the reception venue and we're booking this weekend. We're checking out churches in the area and should have that figured out before New Years. Everything else needs to start getting done in January! Hopefully I'm not cutting it too close. I'm from the Detroit area. Our bad economy means some great deals for brides, and wide-open availability. So I've got that going for me. (Although I'd rather take the good economy!)
Hey month twins! I'm new to the hive and a 10/9/10 bride. Have the venue, photog, band and dress...working on flowers, STDS, invitations, etc. Happy to join this great thread.

Have any other 10/09 peeps had trouble booking venues/vendors?? We're finding that it's a very popular weekend for weddings next year and have had to go to plan "B" several times....we're down to the DJ, cake, flowers, and transportation to work out though, I'm hopeful these will go smoothly...
We know a lot of people that are getting within a couple weeks of us (our wedding date is 10/09/10) and they are having a really hard time finding anything available. We got engaged in February 2009 and had our venue book in late March or early April, I can't remember.
We have a wedding every weekend starting two weeks before ours, all the way to Halloween. My FI's cousin is getting married the weekend after us, but we won't be able to go because we will still be on our honeymoon.
All we have left to do is decide who is doing our cake, and I need to contact a family friend, who is a DOC, and see if she is still available...I hope so!!! :)
@ allisonc: aw, thanks! we tried to be strategic about which vendors we started booking first in order of anticipated fill up: venue, photographer, band, florist, invitations to aim for our top picks. still have yet to do invitations and just picking florists now.

I am a 10/09/10 bride...we just got engaged on 12/04/09 so I am going to have to be speedy! My FI is in Iraq so I am flying solo! I have booked the venue, church, and photographer. Currently I am working on caterers and DJ's. You all are making me nervous saying only 9 months to go...I just started!
I'm 10/9/10 too and just ramping back up. When all is said and done, our engagement will be 23 months long (got engaged in November '08), so I have had a leisurely time planning! We have the church, venue, caterer, officiant, dress, DJ, photographer, and guest list done. Working on the room block right now, engagement pics are next weekend, and I am also currently working on STDs and flowers! It's nice to feel like I am finally accomplishing things! :)
hi ladies! just wanted to wave and shout and get excited! another 10/09/10 bride here! :) just ordered my dress last night- fiance bought his suit a couple of weeks ago, so it is all falling into place, and feels like we're full steam ahead! yipee!!!!

Yay! We booked a DJ today. Thank goodness. It's been the longest process for some reason LOL
It is taking FOREVER for us to book a DJ too, @nashvillebridetobe! Maybe because it's our last vendor...or because it's the one thing I've put my fiance solely in charge of booking. ;)
We have our church, priest, venue, photographer, caterer, cake, band, linens & china, my dress, bm dresses, tux rental (but haven't choosen exact style). Working on the florist & transportation right now. And the FI is creating the STDs. Busy busy!!
