Hello bees, I sure wish I would have had this site when I got married! 🙂
Long story short, we were young when we got married and couldn’t afford a “typical” engagement ring. That was fine with me at the time, and I was happy to pick out something unique but inexpensive. However, I told my then boyfriend for our 10th wedding anniversary I was getting a rock!! 😉 Our anniversary is still about a year away but in reality we will probably buy the ring with our tax return, so about 6 months from ordering.
I have been stalking and drooling over the rings on this board and have decided for many reasons to go with a moissanite center stone. I have tentatively decided on eng161/wed509 from Moissanite Co with a cushion center, either a 7mm or 7.5mm (size 5.5). However, the more I obsess about this, the more I realize I DO really still love my original ring. Part of me thinks I should just be content with it and find some other way to celebrate our 10th. Another idea is to keep my current ring and buy something else to go with it – however, a jewler once told me it would be difficult since there is pave on both sides- the diamonds would scratch anything else with it, and nothing would sit flush with the ring. Not sure if this is true. I also like my ring because I’ve never seen anything like it, and it sits very flat on my finger, which is helpful because I am constantly using gloves at work and it never gets in the way. Then again, I feel like our 10th is a pretty big deal, and I’m also graduating RN school next year, so I feel justified in getting some bling to celebrate!!
I’ve added a poll, if you select option 2 or 3 and have any suggestions you can show me, that’d be great!!! Thanks for your help 🙂
Sorry the pics are soooo big…. the first one is the look I’d like to go for if I got a whole new set 🙂 🙂

stigrl: I think you should get a whole new set, because new rings are fun and your inspiration set is fab. Your current ring is beautiful, and I think you should wear it as a right hand ring after your upgrade.

Personally, I like your current ring. It also represents so much – but I’m super sentimental. I would suggest getting a RHR for an anniversary gift instead.

I second mrsmay07’s opinion! Your inspiration is gorgeous and your current is also beautiful. But she’s right, getting new rings is fun! Good luck and congrats on the upgrade!

Your current ring would make a perfect RHR! I’m always an advocate for more bling, I say go for a 2ct upgrade!

I agree. Go for the upgrade if you wish and wear your current ring as a RHR. It’s lovely and sentimental. Congratulations on ten years and graduation! That deserves some bling IMO.

stigrl: Getting new rings is so much fun. I say go for it!! Your inspiration picture is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. I love everything about it. And I also love your current ring. If you got a whole new set, you’d have wonderful options to switch things around a bit, too. Plus, a 10 year anniversary and graduation are definitely wonderful milestones that deserve celebration!!! (Congrats on both of those things.)

When we upgraded my wedding ring last year I resized my original wedding band and it now lives on my right hand. I think you should do the same. Best of both worlds! 🙂

stigrl: Honestly, I think you should keep your current ring. Do you plan on wearing your ring to work? Speaking as someone who works in health care, a large stone is not going to be practical at all for a floor nurse.
Your ring is gorgeous BTW! Congrats on 10 years

Thanks everyone for the opinions and congratulations!!!

I would do the moissy upgrade!! You could consider a bezel setting for your work. I just received sol400 and it is fabulous!!
And your current ring could go on your right hand.

stigrl: Why don’t you get the blingy ring and wear that one on your right hand? That way you get to keep the sentimental ring on your left hand and wear the blingy ring when you’re off of work, as I don’t think that big stones are practical for the healthcare setting.

Get a new ring and wear your current ring on your right hand! You can always switch them around if you find you “miss” your original ring.

stigrl: Of course I had to vote for the whole new set like #1 ’cause those are my rings!! Haha, for a second, I thought I’d posted something and completely forgot about it 🙂 I think that your current ring would make a perfect RHR, and get the whole new kit and kaboodle! I’m so excited another bee used my rings as inspiration 🙂 YAY!

Are you serious??! Yay! I saved the pic but not the link to where I found it. Can I ask what setting you have and center stone size? Also, where did you get the middle ring? All the ones I’ve seen similar to that are too wide, yours looks perfect. Thank you so much!!! LOVE your rings, obviously!! 🙂
