One of my besties had so much spotting throughout her first pregnancy that she thought she was having a period each month! She didn’t find out she was pregnant until she was into her second trimester and went on to have a healthy little girl. Many people have spotting during pregnancy, especially after sex when you’ve irritated the cervix, but old blood (dark brown) generally isn’t a concern. That said, if you’re ever concerned, just don’t feel right, or have bright red bleeding, you should definitely see your doctor or go to the emergency room.

Sending good thoughts your way!

@BRbee:  Totally normal. The bright red with cramping is the problem. IT’s very normal after sex as well. Don’t freak out. Just look for bright red with the cramping. Or if it continues persistently.

Any fresh red or pink bleeding you should get checked out. however bron discharge is old blood so that’s nothing to worry about. If you’d had sex the night before that’s waht the bleeding is from possibly abstain from sex until you get checked out. I’m sur everything is fine but ywah in the fuure any bleeding at all even the tiniest bit get it checked no ones going to think your silly for asking for a scan to make sure. 🙂

Take care xx

I have been spotting on and off, mostly brown, sometimes a bit red, since implantation, I’m currently 5w1d and paranoid that I’m going to have a MC. This helps me relax a bit. I just keep reading about other ladies that have had spotting in the first trimester and go one to have healthy happy babies..

I spotted up until 12 weeks with DS and up until my 6th month this time around.  Sometimes it’s just one of those things!  Call your doctor and they can examine you to make sure your cervix is closed and everything looks good.

I spotted from 5-8 weeks.  I’m now 12 weeks.  As long as it’s not bright red or accompanied by severe cramping you should be ok.  I’m not sure if it’s true, but the nurse mentioned that it could be a sign of me over-exerting myself and so whenever it happened I tried to really stay off my feet.  I also didn’t have sex with DH just because I heard that sex could cause spotting and I didn’t want to make anything worse.  I had suffered a miscarriage a month prior so was kind of a worry-wart!

@BRbee:  Spotting is the worse! So many times it’s nothing but makes us crazy. How’d your appointment go?

@BRbee:  I am so sorry for your loss.  My heart is breaking for you.  I went through a similar situation in Jan at 9w.  Please know that you are not alone and that you did nothing wrong.  If you feel up to it, there is a Journey after MC thread and the ladies there have always been so supportive.
