Oh, poor baby. :( Hmmm, things to keep her quiet... How about bubbles, stickers, finger puppets, and arts/crafts projects? Maybe practice stacking blocks and knocking them down? You can try wooden puzzles or interactive books (Sesame Street makes these great cloth books with buttons she can push for sounds). Banging on pots and pans or anything that will make loud noises might keep her occupied for a while, as well as practicing taking things out and putting things into a container. I remember my daughter once spent a good 45 minutes taking crayons out of a crayon box and then putting them back in.
Oh, and DD LOVED tearing up magazines! That would keep her attention for a good period of time, too. :)
Thank you for your ideas!! I'm thinking she'll love banging on potss and pans...she definitely likes making noise
My son broke his at 14 months. He continued to crawl on it and act normally. The pedi ortho guy said it was just a crack, no risk of displacement, and to let him do what he was physically comfortable with. If it hurt, he would stop.
It healed really quickly. Within 2 weeks, it was almost healed.

So we just found out that my 11-month old niece has a broken collar bone. My brother and SIL haven't pinned down when it happend- she just started walking on her own in the last few weeks, so has taken a large number of spills recently, often trying to catch herself on something.
Anyway- they didn't put a sling on her, just said that they needed to keep her as calm as possible. My question is- how do you occupy an 11 month old baby, who just wants to walk around, stand up, jump up and down, etc...
I just want to be a good aunt and help out- so any advice would be great!!
